Well, I just turned TWC on. The DirecTV guide says that "Deep Water Salvage" should be on, but Dr. Knabb is on and they are talking about Idalia, for what that's worth.

Thanks, yea I did go ahead and subscribe as the weather channel is now on 24 hour storm coverage. An unrelated question, they said that Tampa is under a severe drought, but with all of the thunderstorms the get during the summertime, how do they end up in a drought? Just wondering if someone who lives in Florida can answer that.

Interesting convective burst near DMIN. A sign that the system is stronger.

I'm a tampa bay resident that can answer that. Our rainy season broke this year. We need this rain. 5-10" please. We don't need the wind or surge...but they say it's a package deal..

The storms, due to west winds have remained inland. If you look at a highway map of Florida, imagine the majority of rain falling east of I-75. Most of the coastal regions are in drought to severe drought conditions. It happens and has happened in the past.

AND... they're playing the all-hurricanes-all-the-time "psycho-stalker" music that makes everybody feel so much better that a storm is on the way. So, I'm guessing that it's offical.

Funny how convection was lackluster and sheared at last night's DMAX, but when it's approaching DMIN, we have this:

Sorry to hear about that psyclone. Is it just because you just aren't getting the big thunderstorms this summer like normal?

oh okay thanks. Make sense. Well hope Tampa gets some big rains out of IDALIA, without the damage of course.............Let's hope the models don't shift too much more East.

This is a portion from the NWS Panama City Forecast discussion...."Points along the FL Big Bend coast have up to about a 5 in 10 chance of sustained tropical storm force winds (39-57 mph) with a 3 in 10 to 4 in 10 chance for points roughly along/NW of a Gulf-to-Lanier County line. The earliest reasonable arrival time of tropical storm winds are at those locations is Tuesday evening. Therefore, any preparations should be completed by no later than sunset on Tuesday. Most model guidance brings Idalia`s core into Apalachee Bay late Tuesday or early Wednesday, which is reflected in the official NHC forecast. If these trends continue, it is likely that Tropical Watches get issued for portions of the region in the 5PM EDT NHCAdvisory. However, uncertainty remains on how far east or west the track will be given that Idalia is still in its formative stage while moving erratically. Users are reminded to not focus on the exact track as impacts can occur outside of the cone. It is also possible that Idalia overperforms on the intensity forecast, (currently peaking at high-end category 1 strength), so folks should prepare for one category higher."

Note the low-mid level moisture just north of the convection. It won't take too long for convection to fully cover the LLC.
