ASCAT shows winds of 40kt. 45kt is a reasonable estimate.

Katia is moving into a rather odd location for Atlantic TCs. I don’t recall a lot around 25N 30W.

I think there is a small chance this could become a hurricane.

Nope, it has already passed its peak. It has that classic look of an Atlantic storm entering cooler waters, with shallow yet expansive, fanning convection. It looked great between advisories and was definitely 50-55 kt then.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

I'd say this is a bit of an overperformer. I didn't think it was going to be able to get stronger than 35-40kts

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

There is still a strong surface level circulation but the convections is been sheared away.

Katia low level circulation with little convection. The models are showing that it will remain in this area and dissipate.

The convection clock has run out on Katia with no organized
thunderstorm activity for most of the day.

Looks like Katia doesn't want to die just yet. Its trying to wrap the convection around herself.
