Looks to be close to stacked, might be some vortices still swirling around.

Same here in NE Tennessee. I’m about 15 min from the NC line. We’ve had rain but this could put things way over the edge for us.
Sending good vibes your way. I went to App State and lived in Asheville for a while. Had friends who lived near trade and in mountain city. Flooding looks to be a big problem this week.
Many counties in central and north NC are under flood watch tonight for storms. 2-3”+ inches. And a little more rain even prior to Helene on Friday. This is a bad flooding set up.

This is starting to get scary, I'm wondering if the NW turn has been confirmed?
I am really concerned about the storm surge at landfall and all along the FL west coast. I have experienced a 25-foot storm surge in Biloxi and trust me, it would take years, or in our case decades, to rebuild from that level of destruction if it comes to fruition. Your whole way a living changes for those in the surge areas, it's like living in a 3rd world country. Hopefully the great state of FL will respond quickly to the needs of its residents to minimize suffering. I know I was basically homeless for about 18 months living with different relatives then the dreaded FEMA Trailor... Will not do it again.. ever
That's exactly why we're leaving FL.
Can't get out fast enough, it appears. Hubs is supposed to leave next week. I have to stay to complete a contract job. Might be another close call before it's all said and done....since hurricane season goes till Nov. 30.

Needs a little time.
Plus, I saw a Reel from a time travel who predicted a Cat 6 200mph winds hitting the US in Sept. This has got to be the one.

I got almost 2" just today near Boone. Additional 8-10+ forecast through Friday. Definitely concerned about flooding and landslides. We've had some significant slides in the past few years.Powellrm wrote:La Sirena wrote:Powellrm wrote:Western NC is going to get crushed with rain. 3.5 and 4+ inches on Wednesday and Thursday. But if you insist, trust me, I'm a physicist.

I thought you might but I thought I'd better check to make sure. I guess there can be winds that high so I kind of wondered.

990mb (29.24 inHg)
That would support a pressure of 988 mb.

Well now that you pointed it out I can't unsee it. Kind of a cartoon baby more like.
