Rigs are well west

There might be some issues with import/export towards ports in LA and Tx for a couple of days. I don't know how far east some of the
refiners and LNG plants are so...who knows.

Agreed. And the Water Vapor sat shows another significant band pulling in near the potential eye. Not sure it’ll have enough time to shape up and top out it’s potential

They are all well west.
Not east.

Think Houston and Louisiana

I realize that but Louisiana isn't that far from the Panhandle and a little shift westward could really through a wrench in the works.

Pleasantly surprised we aren't looking at a Hurricane pushing major status based on how she looked last night.

Dry air is really holding her back this evening, love to see it and hope it continues through the night!

I think he’s saying the gulf will be closed for business for a bit preventing shipping to the ports in TX/LA

I'm visiting family in Volusia county in the Atlantic and I can't believe the Indian River looks like this for a storm hundreds of miles away not even landfalling here. I've lived in Florida my whole life and seen the "big ones" and this is unlike anything I've ever seen.

I hope all our Floridian, Georgian and visiting friends stay safe.

Looks like the core took a bit of a beating when she was near the Yucatán. Now that she’s pulling away it seems she will get back to work.

I don't see any new area of dry, just the eyewall starting to pinch off the dry air that got in there earlier. Most of the hurricane models show this and oddly enough still rapidly strengthen the storm until landfall.

Quite a lot of dry air in the Gulf this season. Every single hurricane has struggled with it.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Her west eyewall was forming and collapsed some when she scraped by. Then some dry slots she is working out. Just a matter of time to reform fully and tap that LC all the way up until landfall.

unless of course they reactivated STORMFURY and seeded the core.

According to the last two center fixes it appears to be East of due north.
