Well Dang!!!! in my mind it was Cantore! Still liking the new channel discovery for coverage.

I never watch TWC but I might check out FOX weather, I like to watch the local news of the affected areas, videos from webcams, and especially those crazy storm trackers. Trackers really get some incredible videos of the storms as they come inland. Hope they are extra cautious in the low-lying areas of the Big Bend, and probably need to stay out of that area.

Good morning- watching from Mobile. Not sure if any of you have this channel but recent subscriber to youtube tv and they have Fox Weather that is like the TWC but better. Less hype. Mike Seidel, Bryan Norcross and others on it. Less theatrics. Enjoyed much better during Francine coverage. No one pretending they cannot stand while citizens walk dogs in the background.

Woke up relieved here in Tally. Same eyewall problems from last night persisted into the morning. The window for RI is rapidly closing and it still doesn’t look close to having that symmetry and tight eyewall for a true boom.

Knock on wood but feeling pretty confident we avoid a high end major.

When you go to bed expecting a primed and ready cat 4 in the middle of RI, waking up to its current look is a relief lol. Still fully prepping for a bad storm but it doesn’t have the look of a potential cat 5 right now, with its current structure and time remaining for RI.

I said I had Ike vibes last night, not getting any better. Giant lumbering storm with strong winds well away from the center. I hope people don't underestimate how even an ugly Helene is going to bring a lot of chaos to the coast AND well inland. The Saffir Simpson scale is useless with these giant storms IMO.

Agreed. The widespread TS force winds will lead to large scale power outages and perhaps more importantly, the storm surge. The surge isn't going to be isolated near the COC with some of these intense smaller storms. It will be far reaching along the west coast and will likely surprise many people who chose to ride out the storm.

I thought the 500mb upper low was supposed to cut off over Arkansas or Oklahoma. It is currently hanging out over western Kentucky and Tennessee. Wouldn't that force the track of Helene not just 30 to 50 miles east, but much more?

It’s been migrating east on the models since last weekend. I think it means that it catches it earlier and pulls it north inland a bit sooner than it might have if it had less influence.

That is currently at 3500

That would be considerably far east of NHC track/cone. That much error is unlikely.
