Details of Severe Tropical Cyclone Sean 11U at 11:00 pm AWST:
Intensity: Category 4, sustained winds near the centre of 175 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 250 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 30 kilometres of 22.9 degrees South 110.4 degrees East, estimated to be 400 kilometres west southwest of Exmouth and 400 kilometres west northwest of Carnarvon.
Movement: southwest at 21 kilometres per hour.
Severe Tropical Cyclone Sean is located well offshore of the west Pilbara coast, moving to the southwest. Gales have eased over the far west Pilbara. The category 4 system has peaked in intensity and is forecast to weaken further on Tuesday as it continues to track southwest away from the WA mainland. It is likely to be below tropical cyclone strength by Thursday.
Hazards:
Severe Tropical Cyclone Sean is no longer expected to cause any direct impacts to the WA mainland, as it continues to move to the southwest well offshore.
