That's nice...

I voted no... although the feel in the air is disturbing. I don't know what it is... it just seems like something(you know what) is gonna hit the fan between now and the holidays. I don't know if it'll be terrorism or what...

Could be both-the what AND Terrorism. If Hugo makes good with his threat, we are in deeper doo-doo.

Well we could always DITCH the cars and use the metal for stuff. The only problem with that is we will have to be A LOT more localized. I know you are thinking this kid is crazy but at least you can say that if we ditch cars then all the prices of stuff wil go down. Right now i'm thinking i'm crazy so i'm going ot try and explain this if there are no cars......... then we can't get to the grocery sore in the other town with out walking or biking. Which will force the big buissnesses to get smaller because of the decrease in demand of the prodects which will force towns to grow nearer to the stores and I think that that will force us to build buildings out in stead of up and eventually the population will be more spread out and those rich bastard won't be able to be millionares any more. Ok I am making no sense but since this is comeing strait out of my head and I understand every thing it is sort of a Hard Draft if oyu will. but if any one understands this please clearifly it and coment it. I'm going ot try again in my next post

This summer almost reminds me of the summer of 2001 for some reason... and we all know what happened then.

You know that if you raise the minimum wage you are actually decreasing the salaried employees wage. They don't get a raise when min. wage workers do. My husband and I are self employed, both college degreed and we haven't seen a payraise in 13 years.

Let's not forget about the horrible drought affecting crops in the midwest. Prices at the grocery store were already destined to go up because of the rise in the cost to transport the goods, and now with the devastation to much of the corn crop and other crops, any trip to the grocery store will be quite painful.

Eye rolling? You're not even old enough to vote. When you are out there trying to pay a mortgage and bills, some of this will make more sense to you.

Wnat to fight back against energy? this is one way that would have an immediate impact on natural gas prices and save you a bit of money to boot.

Recommended thermostat settings are 70° F or lower for heating and 78° F or higher for cooling. These settings should provide a comfortable environment within the home. Each degree higher than 70° F can increase heating costs by 1-3%, and each degree below 78° F can increase cooling costs by 3-5% or more.
You should also set your thermostat back (in winter) or up (in summer) whenever you will be out of the house for several hours or longer. It is a common misconception that it will take more energy to heat the home back up (or cool it back down) than was saved by setting the thermostat back. By setting the thermostat back for heating or up for cooling when you are not home or overnight, you can save as much as 10% on your annual energy bill.

darn up here 78 degrees is some what uncomfortable we usually have our AC on 68 degrees in the summer and in the winter we have our heater between 74 and 78 lol doesn't make sense does it. well goes from in the winter from having Snow Pants, A winter hat, a thick sometimes 2 coats that can hook together (about 2 inches thick) with a hood to go over the hat, gloves put on before the coat so that heat can't excape, and winter boots. You might think in the south (maybe) "dang he is ready for the Artic" you are probably right because I usually end up swaeting in al of that and whenit is like 4 degrees out side trust me anything below 20 degrees is REALLY COLD. After that you start going out in shorts and a T-shirt when it is 40 degrees out lol. Then in the summer after going through al that cold we have to deal with lower 80 temps that is REALLY HOT to us well to me. it is almost a teperature shock in the winter if you are wearing just your reg. clothes from like 76 deg to sometimes below zero at night. lol

No we are not heading for an economic meltdown....quit watching the doomsday predictions on most new outlets and look at the facts. Inflation is still low!! What rises in inflation we have is largely based on Oil. Unemployment is low, earnings are high(both corporate and personal) and the economy is growing nicely. Most economists predict a 3.7% growth in the GDP for 2005...actually revising their forecasts up from previous forecasts earlier in the year. Growth for 2006 is predicted at 3.4%. This indicates to me that the policy makers are making good decisions about the direction of our economy. Crude Oil is an issue that has been approaching the US for years and no one took notice. Now we have!! US refinaries are putting out as much oil as they can and the demand for crude throughout the world is driving costs higher and higher...This is not going to change probably ever again. Gasoline prices above 2.50/gallon are going to be the norm from now on. We must adapt our living styles or find alternate modes of transportation!!

Look at how we live compared to our parents and grandparents. They would look at us and think we were millionaires. We could afford the higher electric and gas prices if we didn't have more than one car, more than one tv, more than one phone and cell phone. And, I bet the average person has a closet stuffed full of clothes. Look at the resturants and stores. They are always packed.

Even a lot of poor people I know have a lot of luxuries too.

Our country has been thru worse times and we will get thru this too.
