Heard about the wind blowing around the roof -- people being able to hear it and that it was unnerving. That was before hearing about the leaking....

Having been in the dome dozens of times, I've seen it rain in the Dome on several occasions. I'm hoping that this is nothing out of the ordinary.

I hope so too ... but the sad thing is is that I'm not really surprised either. All that we can do now is hope and pray... :(

Well that's not good. It kinda defeats the purpose of the dome... Someone on another thread said that people were moving up in the mezzaine areas because it's more of a downpour now. In the station, that is...

SOURCE: MSN.COM (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9063708/#storyContinued)
At the Superdome, where thousands sought shelter, rain was leaking in and the power failed at 5:02 a.m. ET, triggering groans from the crowd. Emergency generators kicked in, but the backup power runs only reduced lighting and is not strong enough to run the air conditioning.

WDSU is saying there are "problems" with the roof leaking and there have been in the past.

How bad it will get remains to be seen, let's not overstate the danger of it until we really know. Heck, my roof leaks too in a big storm sometimes, but it doesn't mean it's collapsing.

Wait until the sun comes up. No A/C and 30K people in the Dome...that's gonna be ripe in a hurry.

Well, if it makes things any better, latest reports are that there are *ONLY* 10,000 or so people taking shelter in the dome.

Praying for that roof to hold!

I had heard 30,000 last night, so was surprised to hear 10,000 this morning. Who knows?! Kind of like the "fog of war" -- hard to get precise details until things calm down...

A reporter in the superdome is saying on CNN that about 1/12 of the roof has peeled off and that they can see the sky. People are being moved away from the open areas and into the non-damaged parts.

People are not panicking but are concerned.
