Well said. I have more compassion for humans, and it's heart-breaking to see what is going on. I can't get "Harvey Jackson" from Biloxi out of my mind!
Still .. I also think about the dog wrapped in live electrical wire, and the seal that kept looking up at the people as they were pouring five gallon buckets of water on him to keep him hydrated.
I think of the family waiting to be pulled up from their sunken home to the chopper, one of the kids holding on to her dog, only to be told she couldn't take it with her. That dog will die on that roof.
I think about the rescuers having to pass a dog that's been sitting in a tree for three days. If you don't have SOME compassion for a helpless animal too, then what kind of human can you be?
I know human life is more sacred. I also know that those people have lost EVERYTHING except for the clothes on their back. They may have even lost a family member. Getting their pet back would at least bring SOME comfort back to their lives!
