Going to Disney World..any advice?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Going to Disney World..any advice?

#1 Postby blumoon » Mon Sep 05, 2005 11:02 am

We are from Fla., moved to N.C. five years ago. We are leaving tomorrow night for Orlando. I knew when we made reservations that we'd be there in the height of the season. This is our first vacation in four years.

We are definately going as of now. What do ya'll think?

Disney World is the one place you never have to worry about. They have plans, eqipment, and abilities to overcome 'practically' anything that could occur. They run all their own services, and in disney fashion no expenses were spared. ;)

Also even if the invest off the coast develops, it won't be enough to cause any problems for you.

Have fun!

My last vacation before I moved here was during Gordon so I know what can happen. No one has an idea where 93L will go so it should not effect your home. Here Disney will not close unless 94L runs right thru Central FL as a cane. Just have fun. :D

Actually you better make that a windless umbrella and throw in some rain suits.

lets see, bring an umbrella and a brinks truck to pay admission and the various other fees in that place. if you are driving bring a 5 gallon gas can for extra gas and more money.

I have a friend who is a resort manager for Disney and most of what you said is true… However, they are VERY extra cautious of the weather and most outdoor rides and some indoor rides close when there is just the slightest threat of a storm that can produce lightning. The amount of T-Storm activity in this area and forecasted for Central Florida will definitely make fore a very wet Disney trip. Umbrella’s are a pain, the $8.00 poncho raincoats (use one, maybe twice then basically throw away later) are almost worth the price if you don’t want to carry your own raincoat around…

My advice, avoid Magic Kingdom on Saturdays, and get there when the parks open.

Thanks for all the replies. Yes, WDW is expensive! We have already paid for the trip so the armored truck wont be needed. I was afraid to make this post because I thought I'd get some bashing. I have been glued to the TV and computer since Katrina formed. I think it will do me some good to get away. Thanks again. :D
