None of the indicators are flagged (1s in the 0s at the end)

I see the winds reported before that out of the NE than E, than SE, while they are supposely flying SW direction. Shouldn't they be flying SE? Maybe I'm wrong but is something wrong with that?

the height went from 1000 feet to 850mb

Remember, a couple hours ago the storm was still in "it's organization stage". It may not have a perfect circulation yet. I see what you're saying, but I think they would have flagged it if they thought it was suspect.

They could have decided that it was dangerous to continue at their low level...after all, they should be flying at 850 for tropical storms.

REPORTS FROM AN AIR FORCE RESERVE RECONNAISSANCE INDICATE MAXIMUM
SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO NEAR 50 MPH... 85 KM/HR...WITH
HIGHER GUSTS. ADDITIONAL STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT
24 HOURS... AND RITA COULD BECOME A CATEGORY ONE HURRICANE BY LATE
MONDAY.
