It looks like she could already be at the beginning end of Category 3.

Hrd wind maps shows most of the winds over the southern part. While the northern side hardly has hurricane force?

I just did some rough math, and I mean rough my according to google earth and the current position during the last three frames I've come up with just over 17mph forwards speed. Can anyone confirm this?

Wind map? I remember another member posted a very detailed wind map of what we could expect based on the current track. The map showed cities and everything. I think it was skeetobite? Does anyone have the link to that map with current track? Thanks~

 OMG guys, things are starting to pick up here, and doppler radar shows another strong cell making a bead for Lakeland. I moved to the safest room in my house, but the rest of my family went out AGAINST MY WISHES - so I'm here alone for now. I've lugged the laptop along to keep up with things. I know this is just the beginning, and not as bad al alot will experience, but these tornados scare the crap out of me! I hope Johngaltfla and everyone else in the path of this storm will be ok. Stay safe ya'll, and thanks for keeping me informed (and company!)

Tornadoes scare me too, and I may eat my words, but tornadoes around here are not like tornadoes in the other parts of the country. They touch down for a very, very short time and just rip up someone's pool cage or carport.

Agreed that if there are hundreds of these things it could be a lot more serious, but that's just been my experience living in SW FL on and off all my life.

Wilma appears to be wearing a hat of deep convection.

Here in Venice it's pretty calm right now. The clouds are rolling in and are beautiful. I have a good view from my balcony. After I get the animals in off the porch, we'll probably go down to Englewood beach for awhile.

The tornadoes generated by hurricanes tend to be fast-moving and relatively weak. If you are living in a well-built home, the key is to get low in an interior space, the smaller the better, such as an interior bathroom or closet. The more walls between you and the outside the better. Do not seek refuge in a space with any windows.

Get down low, and bring a heavy blanket with you. Wrap yourself in it, and it a tornado is coming, cover your head, or if you have a helmet, keep it in your hiding place to put on at a moment's notice. And make sure you are wearing sturdy shoes. Many people are injured in the tornado aftermath when stepping on sharp objects, such as nails or broken glass.

Hope that helps.
