Hey Van. I made it to sleep a couple of hours, but just woke up because I had to check out the winds outside. I hop on the board to find out that this monster is getting stronger as she's coming here!

I know. Wow, they're something else out there, eh? And this isn't anything like it will be...

Glad you got a bit of shut eye, though.

Yep, me too. According to weather.com, we've got 26 mph winds, gusting to 42 down here. Hard to imagine that it's going to be worse soon. Should make it interesting

I'd forgotten to check weather.com, heh. From SE at 29 mph gusting to 47 mph, here.

The poor Keys...

I know - I'm watching it on the news. I have family that lives in Islamorada. Thankfully they aren't there right now, although it would be nice to hear first hand reports from there. It's looking like, if the eye holds together at all, Miami-Dade could see some of the eye wall.

Channel 10 has a reporter in Islamorada. I haven't seen them lately - put the rodents in the safe room.

Yes, terrifying, isn't it? :(

That's good to know. I would think that their winds will start to increase within the next couple of hours though.

Oh yeah, for sure.

Boy, I guess the sleepyheads have one good thing going for them... Not having to sit and wait, wait, wait. I'm ready to bid goodbye to Wilma and she's not officially said hello, yet!

I hear that. :) Ohh, Don Noe just said the eye should hit the west coast in an hour or two... Maybe being awake isn't all bad. Think I'd rather be awake then asleep.

Just saw the thing on 10 showing where the winds will be at 8am this morning. By then, basically all of S. FL will be having hurricane force winds.

Absolutely scary.

You guys safe down there? I mention my safe room often, because we rent... NO shutters/plywood. :( But the master closet couldn't be better to hunker down in.

Yeah we're safe. We're in a CBS condo here, so we have units to our left and right, as well as above. We've got plywood up on all the windows, although our walkway to the front door acts as a little wind tunnel and my word! the wind whistling through there right now. If we need some safe space, we've got either of the 2 bathrooms (although we would probably use ours because the cats' litterbox is in the tub in the other one LOL).

My husband's parents are near the Falls. We drove through the area near MDC (had Hungry Bear for lunch ;) ) and I feel for the folks in the apts/condos across from there. Many of the homes along 107th Ave. were boarded up though which was good to see.

How are you doing in your spot there???

Glad you're safe. :)

These are condos as well, personally owned, many rented out. We've got the trash/room chute to once side, and then about 24 units on the other. We're on the 2nd floor, 2 more above us.

I have a friend nears the Falls. I'm glad to hear many homes there were boarded up.

Mmm, Hungry Bear! Sounds good right about now.

My mind isn't working right, hehe. I keep waiting for the power to go out. Hope we still have a few more hours still. Any flickers there? Not here, just the DirectTV. Still have it though.
