"La Nina hurricanes" I guess would come in the previous hurricane season before a La Nina winter. If so, I'd say Wilma, Rita, and Katrina 2005, Mitch 1998, Gilbert 1988, Janet 1955, Dog 1950, and the Long Island Express 1938.
These are all the Cat 5's that have occurred in a before a strong La Nina winter.

Not to sure you can say this with 100 % certainty. Some things are cyclical in nature. Timing of ENSO phases have always tended to start or form during previous winter...then develop stronger throughout year.... Timing of things like 50 hPa etc...might change this timing...there by maybe less noticeable events forming ... SST's etc...
Summer/fall last two tropical seasons seem to have shown signs of ENSO events trying to develop...and winter ENSO weather patterns followed along with this.
So we might have the chicken/egg.

Yeah, it's a variant of Catherine, just think of how many other feminine names are variants of Catherine.

That's incorrect. I think Bertha was the earliest Cape Verde hurricane on record. Correct me if I'm wrong

Calamity Bertha was the earliest and most east cyclone that formed from the CV area.

Neutral years, on average, have the same amount of activity as la nina years...with a slight difference in...I believe it is hurricane amounts (1 more in neutral years) but I do not remember exactly.
I remember reading that also.....1 more in neu years....
