Hercules parade starts in Houma at 6 p.m. I get off of work at 3. I work at the mall in Houma. Since I live almost 20 minutes away, I am staying in Houma until the parade starts. Because the traffic will be bad and there is no use burning up my gas and going all the way home. And then have to come back an hour and half later. (They start blocking the roads off about an hour before) After I get off work at 3, I am going to go get me something to eat. Then, go get ready at co-workers house who lives nearby. I made plans with another co-worker to attend. She is from to Decatur, Illinois and was there all week visiting family. Her plane lands at 5:00 p.m. So, she is just going to have to meet me there. Then, we will probably head to downtown Houma and go out after.
Anyone from Storm2K going to any of the Mardi Gras festivities? The crowds will probably be HUGE this year. Houma has the 2nd biggest parades next to New Orleans. I have not been to a parade in the Big Easy since I was a little kid. But, I will in New Orleans next Saturday. Not exactly for Mardi Gras, though. For a good friend of mines wedding. Their reception got delayed because of Hurricane Katrina.
Happy Mardi Gras! Parades kick off tonight! Anyone going?

I will be there. I almost never miss Hercules. used to go downtown, but more often than not I go to the mall with the kids. Downtown is not to bad with kids even. They can go to the bathroom at the lunch basket, they catch more, and I know enough people and even the ones I don't know are more interested than partying so they let me have dibs on the barracade with the kids. The parade just gets there so late, and Hercules is Notorious for running slow.
I am quite interested in how Mardi Gras will play out. Due to the storms the population has grown in Terrebonne, and along with the tourists we usually draw in some extra may be showing up rather than going to NO. SP and others are expecting record crowds. It has been about 10 years since I have been to NO for lundi gras. Turns out my step dad was right you can go from one end of Bourbon to the other without your feet ever hitting the ground. I wonder if the crowds will be that large this year. If it looks tamer than normal I may bring the kids to a friend's house who lives two blocks off of one of the routes.

Well, I may go out to the French Quarter after the wedding reception next Saturday. Depends on whatever the others want to do. I plan on partying tonight. That is why I plan on sleeping in Houma and not driving. It takes me nearly 20 minutes to get home and the cops will be out like crazy. I am probably not going to the parade tomorrow night though. I don't get off work until 9 p.m. and the only way I would be able to make it is downtown. Plus, they give rain tomorrow night. Sunday, I am going to the parade in Thibodaux instead. I am going with my cousin and her 3 kids. Her husband has to work and 3 kids can be a handful by yourself. Her kids are only 7, 3, and the baby will be 2 on March 1st.
