O Town I always add red roasted peppers to it for the color contrast. I frequently double the sauce ingredients just to have enough sauce to dip my bread in to eat with the pasta. You can always add the sweet peppers to the list of iingredients without changing the result.. The banana peppers are what give the dish its "twangy" taste. I have added extra hot peppers to the list of ingredients and it seems that the cooking of the peppers in the butter in the first part of the recipe tames the heat the peppers have.

I roasted half of a turkey breast on Wednesday. And to use up the leftover turkey, I made what I call Turkey Manhatten: simmered chopped turkey, celery, onions, grated carrots, peas, in chicken stock, with spices and a bay leaf, thickened with flour and water mixture. Poured over toast. I thought my family would complain but my daughter Laura said I can make this anytime. LOL Guess it's been a while since I made a simple meal like this. I did it b/c I needed a plain, comfort type meal but she kept raving about it! Too funny. BTW, you can make this meal with chicken or tuna, doesn't have to be turkey.

that sounds good.
my comfort food is potato dumplings about the size of a baseball. my mom was from eastern europe and they learned to make incredible things with potatoes while trying to survive WWII.My second favorite is mashed potatoes with sliced hard boiled eggs on top and a hollandaise-type (but mustard based) sauce on top. OMG that's comfort food for me.
