I hate how even legal immigrants get treated like zombies in the corporate world. I wish they could receive more dignity... sorry if I'm being stupid, but I wish someone might understand what I am saying (as I live in southern Florida, I am close to this problem every day)...

I support them being here because I like cheap produce and I don't particularly like our immigration policies.

One simple step can be taken that will eliminate this problem and many others: give free immigration rights to all Mexicans or even all North Americans as long as they cross the border at established crossing points.

This will dry up the flow of illegal immigrants crossing the borders on people's property, it will force and allow currently illegal immigrants to contribute to the tax base more than they already do, and it will make it easier to catch real criminals trying to cross the borders.

I don't eat produce and I don't like our immigration policies...But alot of my tax money is going to these illegals...

I agree with your point, feederband... it is actually quite ironic how even all this tax money going to illegals has not solved poverty much, if at all.

What tax money, exactly, goes to support "illegals"?

Does anyone agree with my point below?

Do the illegals who work the cheap jobs on the corners for farmers get paid cash? I cannot see these farmers and employers taking taxes out of their wages only showing the government that they are hiring illegals. How do we know how many illegals are actually paying taxes? If I hired a housekeeper, etc. I would be afraid to pay her other than cash..... no records...

Illegals get their free health care, etc. immediately-no waiting in line like us citizens. Note to Shrub-why don't you just give the SW US back to Mexico like Sharon gave Gaza back so that the illegals can be happy.

I've actually heard of many immigrants - illegal or legal - saying they've struggled to pay taxes.

Where did you get that information that they get free health care immediately? What are your sources?

A lot of jobs do nto require the employer to withhold taxes for the employee. Agriculture is one, domestic help is another. In other situations where the employer would normally be required to withhold taxes, they can instead hire a labor contractor who then is supposed to handle the tax withholding. Often in these cases the payments to the employees are made in cash, and it's relatively easy for "illegals" to work in these jobs.

We are only talking about illegals here. Yes, all legal citizens should be treated with dignity.

SouthFloridawx, I am talking about something different. I am talking about how many poor immigrants in my area are being treated like zombies by the corporate world.

Other than the "free" emergency room care that anyone can get, what free healthcare do they get?

Again, though, how do you determine who is an illegal immigrant and who is not? It's not like they wear nametags.

The problem is that we let idiots like Fidel Castro run many Latin American countries. No wonder that southeast Florida and other areas have problems with illegal immigration. We need to take (remove) Castro and others out, but this time in a better way than the stupid way we tried to in the past.

You are right. So here is our can of worms and there are over 500,000 marchers tomorrow to tell us that.

We have illegals here too, by the thousands, Haitians and Cubans. They are in every state in the US.

I have heard that most Cubans in Florida have contributed a lot and are hard workers. I could be wrong.
