Injured black bear roaming Altamonte Springs, Florida

Search For Injured Black Bear

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is intensifying its search for an injured black bear in Altamonte Springs.

A family on West Citrus Street called police Sunday night after spotting the bear in their backyard.

One of the family members told police the bear was missing its right front paw.

Officials have been searching for the bear for weeks without success.

The commission wants to relocate the bear, but so far traps and darts have not worked.

Homeowners in Altamonte Springs are being urged to stow away garbage cans and other potential food sources until the bear is caught.

Wow, during that time, he could have bled to death if his paw was bleeding.

We had a similar situation in Hampton a few years ago. A black bear started showing up at various places in the pre dawn hours, including a public beach and a residential area. He was a male and it was mating season. Talking about looking for love in all the wrong places  He seemed to ignore people and never approached or threatened anyone. When he was finally captured it was found he had already been tagged.; he was a repeat offender.
