Having Problems with Yahoo Site
I was trying to sign in to Yahoo, but after clicking "sign in", it waits a minute before flashes the ignoramous "Page Cannot Be Displayed" page.

Sporatic due to a trogen script at Yahoo being used in a large DDoS attack today. Result is many servers block the IPs so you get no where (see my thread; happened to my site)

Yep. They turn 10's of thousands of unsuspecting PCs and unleash the DoS mostly from innocent people who have no idea they are "Zombied". Yet another reason to install AV a Firewall and regularly scan for spyware/ratware. Unfortunately, this recent attack came through script on a Yahoo site...not much one can do about that.
Mid-Atlantic WX.com is back to full chop this morning but I see we're sluggish at the last router so this crap is still out there. You can minimize that by keeping browser cache small (Microsoft defaults 30Meg which is grossly too large).
Just another day in the world of hackers.

Everyone is so quick to blame kids. We don't know how did this. It could be ANYONE, disgruntled about something, and decided to take it out on as many ppl as they can. I know most of the time, its just some kid doing it...but you need to think anyone with a grudge about something could do it.
*stands off his soapbox* sorry if this rubs ppl the wrong way, but you just can run around blame a "kid" for every problem that occurs on the internet.

As someone who works for the BSA, I'm quick to agree with your point
A significant number of Hacker Clubs are organized by males 15-24. Most are *not* in the US but many known HCs are. Huge percentage of DoS, DDoS arrests have been middle class males between these ages. And it is also true every downed server wasn't boinked by the bad guys...things can and do go wrong. The hackers just make it much worse.
