Pretending

#1 Postby Janice » Tue Jul 04, 2006 6:12 am

Do you pretend?

Do you go to sleep pretending you are on a great adventure or your life was a little different.

I saw on tv a program where a lot of people will pretend a lot, especially while going to sleep, that their life is different and this is a safe way for them to act out.

I have never heard about that.

I do sometimes pretend that I am someone else when a telemarketer calls. Sometimes I am a Hispanic, sometimes I like to repeat myself a lot, sometimes I am redneck who burps a lot... the list is endless. ;) It keeps life interesting for me and those who call to solicit funds. 8-)

Well, when I can't fall asleep I pretend what I'd do if we won the lotto! You know, nice cabin in the woods, new cars, a real family vacation to either Hawaii or Alaska (on soil, no cruise, for either!), and then all the things I'd ideally like to do to our house. Of course hubby jokes, if we win the lotto we'll sell this house! Anyway, that is my experience with pretending - it does put me to sleep too!

How's that - do I qualify for the mentally challenged? LOL Other than that, I have a pretty good grasp on reality!

When I was still working, I'd pretend I was an airhead if some idiot asked me a stupid question.... blinking eyes, open mouth, maybe even a little drool if I could manage it. Got rid of 'em every time.

:uarrow: I like that kind of pretending. Sometimes I'll pretend to listen to someone or pretend to like someone who I don't like.
