This post shows your prejudice against Arab names and now you say you won't apologize for it. You can't be taken seriously on this issue anymore.

This post shows your :uarrow: incapacity for sticking to the issues at hand and a clear predilection for diversion.

Israel is calling up another 15K reserves, after calling up another 15-30K a few days ago, and has also announced they are widening the ground war.

Sorry, perhaps I should have added that I'd just heard it on TV News... couldn't very well attach a link; but doubtless should have mentioned that--usually do.

point noted!

Interesting Report right now from FOX news... (Shephard Smith's show--airing now)... they're about to have an interview with a former So. Lebanese fighter who fought beside the Hezbollah, and the suggestion was he would tell how Nasrallah (sp?) might not really care how this thing turns out.

I have no idea what he meant by that; but just in case anyone's following, that's what's coming up next on the show.

Excuse me. Shephard Smith? That sounds like a caucasian name. He can't possibly be objective

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, speaking to a gathering of mayors in Tel Aviv, earlier ruled out a cease-fire until two Israeli soldiers seized by Hezbollah have been returned and the threat from Hezbollah rocket attacks has been removed.

"The fighting continues," he said. "There is no cease-fire, and there will not be any cease-fire in the coming days."

He spoke just hours after Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice reported general agreement on terms for a U.N. Security Council cease-fire resolution to end hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. "I take with me an emerging consensus on what is necessary for both an urgent cease-fire and lasting settlement," Rice told reporters in Jerusalem before flying back to Washington. "I am convinced we can achieve both this week."

:roflmao:

You just don't want to quit beating that dead horse do you? Anyway--if that's how you see it... perhaps not; albeit he has been cited as being quite liberal in his views...has been reporting from Lebanon and extremely sensitive to the plight of the "innocent civilians"... but I guess ya just never know tho' do ya?

Back on topic... If Hezbollah does, in fact, have the longer range missiles, one wonders if it is Iran (probably is) that is holding them back, for the time being from unleashing an attack that could reach near Tel-Aviv. I think these two sides are playing a dangerous game of "chicken".

 not sure bout Shepard just being sarcastic. Hez probably has some long rangers. Not sure if any other countries could get them into Lebanon very easily. How big are they? How hard to conceal them is it?

Yup, Olmert has completely ruled out any cease fire. He's been saying this for days. I wonder if those soldiers are even still alive?
Although as recently as a week ago, the Guardian was reporting that according to Nasrallah (dubious at best) they were still alive and well.

That's a valid question; but most of the pundits seem to think that Iran is holding them back. They've been hiding a lot of things pretty well for quite some time. It is estimated that there are at least 10,000 of those Katyusha (sp?) missiles already in Lebanon now.

It depends on the rocket, but mostly it depends on the launcher, if they're ground-launched (easily disassembled) or truck mounted. Israel said it mistook some of the civilian trucks it has hit for launchers. There are pictures of this stuff and the specs, etc. in the link above.

Surprised that it took Israel this long to commit a more pronounced ground attack. Most likely they bought into the idea of a air campaign doing the job.

What many should start to realize, and I've felt this way since this conflict has begun. Israel has had enough, plain and simple. Condi don't call, Kofi don't call, Tony don't call....etc…

Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but they seem as commited as they ever have been. The words spoken by Ahmadinejad may have been the final straw. Just took a bit of time to initialize their real response.

I think those bigger rockets requiring launchers are going to be tough to sneak in. It might be easy to sneak in the Katyusha rockets.
