Hurricane Rita report updated

The Rita report has been updated to include some new surge observations and updated damage estimates.

Oh,it was updated to be a cat 5 at landfall.No jk :lol: :lol:

I see no changes in the Damage or death toll.

the changes are slight in the damages section

previously this was written

The most recent available estimate by the American Insurance Services Group of the insured damage in the United States caused by Rita is $4.98 Billion.


now its

Had it not had Cuba in the way, I imagine that we'd be talking about FIVE Category 5 hurricanes last year...

I'll always remember Rita for how she snuck up on us in Louisiana. We all thought she was going to Galveston or further south (well I had my suspicions just looking at her path :wink: ) and then bam we're under a hurricane warning 24 hours out. We didn't receive hurricane force winds in Lafayette but some of the gusts definately approached that level where I live and just south and west of here. The storm surge flooding was horrible for Southwest and Southcentral Louisiana, much worse than Audrey which for almost 50 years stood as the "benchmark" around here.
