Snakes every where
What happens to the animales on the Island?
I am sure Glad TSF is not coming here. See what happen even with a TS. Our roads here are still closed for flooding. As you all know We had flood waters around my house and up and down the road here from TSE the water is still up in the back feild. We have killed 2 snakes and the mailman just found on in a mail box. Not good.

anybody save those photos of the Water Moccasins on the docks south of NO after KAtrina? Biggest dang snakes I've ever seen! Thigh thick and mean! Cotton mouths are notorious for their agressive behavior. Sorry to hear about a anake in the ole mailbox! I won't go near it for months!
Snake and bees, just another thing everyone forgets about after a storm, except those trying to clean up.

me and my dad saw the end of a rattlesnake as he was crossing the road last weekend...it was probably 5 feet long...tried to run him over, but due to the ground being wet from the Big E we only PO'ed him as the ground was soft and mushy, so it and us only sunk some into the mud...backed up and listened and you could hear him in the bushes just a rattling his tail...

After Hurricane Diana back in 1984. I got struck by a copperhead in the leg thought it was leaf and limb litter I was on my bike and he took a pop at me luckily his fangs where hung up in my jeans so he did not break to skin to bad. Snakes are always a concern after a storm due to all the flooding we usually get in this area.
Also Hurricane Diana is a great example of the kind of storms that may still have a chance of hitting the east coast

because where he is at there are alot of them and copperheads...they are a big problem on that plot of land, its a hunting club and there are alot of woods out there, kids, adults, dogs etc stand a very high chance during bow season of being bitten by them...jlauderdal wrote:brunota2003 wrote:me and my dad saw the end of a rattlesnake as he was crossing the road last weekend...it was probably 5 feet long...tried to run him over, but due to the ground being wet from the Big E we only PO'ed him as the ground was soft and mushy, so it and us only sunk some into the mud...backed up and listened and you could hear him in the bushes just a rattling his tail...

I really wish people would just learn to get along with the wildlife that lives in their region. In reality if you just pay attention to where you are walking and keep your eyes and ears open (remember the rattle on rattlesnakes evolved as a warning system so that the rattlesnake can avoid interactions with large potentially life threataning encounters with larger animals like bison and now humans) you have nothing to worry about. Snakes are one of the most inoffensive creatures on the planet and want to avoid you just as much or more than you want avoid them and are enviormentaly benificial creatures so please folks CAN"T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG.

It's God's fault. He didn't exactly portray them in a positive light in the Bible.

That's all well and good and for the most part I agree. I love nature and animals.
Around here though, it's nothing special to find one in your home if it's not sealed correctly (especially in the more rural areas). I HAVE to draw the line somewhere in the sand between myself and leaving nature as it is.
Snake in the home - the line is crossed and God gets another snake in Heaven.
