This is a great program and it is not considered a boot camp, my son graduated from the one here on Florida in June, he was almost 2 yrs behind in school and ready to drop out, this is a voluntary program, the kids can only go if they are willing, they can not be forced to go and there is a selection process as they can only take so many kids, it is funded my the military and there is very little cost to the parents. I am not sure if all states are the same but in florida they do need to be 16 to enroll, it may be differant in other states and may be worth checking into.
I know that my son would not have graduated without this program, not saying that life is perfect now but it is better. I wish you luck.
Nephew update: he's suspended from school (last post)

Looked into it, he's got to be 16. My nephew is fourteen now.

I've been looking into boot camps, but have heard so many horror stories about kids dying at boot camp...

And hes got a higher chance of dying on the street. Not trying to sound cold here Danielle. There have been a few isolated incidents that were hyped by the media.

I suppose that's true, especially of the area where he lives. He's in a bad area all around. High crime, blinding poverty, and the newspapers are singing of a major drug bust.
