IM QUITTING SMOKING!!!!!

#1 Postby george_r_1961 » Sun Dec 17, 2006 7:18 pm

Well after losing my car this weekend due to careless smoking(yes it burned up) ive decided to call it quits. Rather than wait till tommorow like I planned I decided as soon as the pack I had was gone I would not get anymore. And im losing my mind already and its only been 2 hours

I want to do this without nicorette or the patch. Only way to do this is to quit cold turkey and go thru the withdrawls.

You can do it George. My grandfather quit when I was 12. One day driving home from Texas. From that day on he hasn't had another one. Now, he is dealing with COPD and Parkinson's. The doctor told me that he hadn't quit smoking when he did that he would likely be dead. I am thankful for his decision and you should remember that the next time you want a cigarette. Instead of reaching for a cigarette...make a post on S2K!!! :D

George - we'll be your personal support group. You CAN do this! Sorry to hear about your car though but I'm glad you got a new one so quickly.

I tried smoking for one month back in high school. After a while I decided it wasn't for me. My best friend at the time was hooked and still is. She always tells me what a smart idea that was (me quitting) and she's tried to stop. So I personally don't know how hard quitting is but I have heard it's very difficult. That's why I say we'll support you along the way. You'll need us!

Good luck!

Mary

I tried to quit smoking years ago when I was working at a hotel in League City, after about a week of being a real mean lady, I walked into my office to find a pack of Cig's, a lighter, and a ash tray with a note that said one word. Enjoy. When I quit it was expected that the hotel would be slow for a few weeks, but that changed about day 2.

Wow George, if there was ever a clear sign that the time to quit is now, this is it ... burning up your car. Glad you weren't in it!
So how you doing today? Hang in there; you can do it! We're all behind you.
