Oil rises 5% on rumors of Iran attacking U.S Ships

:uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow:

However the rumors are not true about Iran attacking U.S. Naval Ships in the Persian Gulf. But this shows how volatile is that region right now that only a rumor can cause a big increase in oil prices.

I think war is going to happen... now there's this:

MOSCOW, March 27 (RIA Novosti) - Russian military intelligence services are reporting a flurry of activity by U.S. Armed Forces near Iran's borders, a high-ranking security source said Tuesday.

"The latest military intelligence data point to heightened U.S. military preparations for both an air and ground operation against Iran," the official said, adding that the Pentagon has probably not yet made a final decision as to when an attack will be launched.

He said the Pentagon is looking for a way to deliver a strike against Iran "that would enable the Americans to bring the country to its knees at minimal cost."

He also said the U.S. Naval presence in the Persian Gulf has for the first time in the past four years reached the level that existed shortly before the invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

What is going on right now with the double bad things that Iran is in,the Nuclear Standoff and the 15 seized U.K. sailors IMO is getting to inevitable that some kind of military confrontation will occur fairy soon, unless diplomacy gets the upper hand quickly.

This is all highly unnecessary and will only bring oil prices higher and cause more pain at the pump.

The oil companies are always waiting for something to increase the oil prices, even if that something isn't true.

These days with the internet you can select your media source(s). should be interesting to compare the english versions of the Russian and Iranian news sources against the US and British sources. I doubt we will gain much of a parallax view.

Oil companies do NOT control the prices of oil

You and I control the prices. We can enter the futures trading markets and start moving the price (albiet ones contribution is small) if we so desire

Yep. But you know, the US is unique in that you can find information, legally, if you know where to look. Granted, you can't get all the information you'd like, but its a remarkably open governmental structure. Unfortunately, many people simply don't care enough to critically examine information.

Regarding the stories from Russia: I came across those blurbs this morning....but I'd take those stories with a grain of salt. The Russians will often plant information in order to get an opponet to tip her hand. They're quite interesting, but I don't know that they have a high factual content.

Personally if the USA, Britain and other Western Governments are smart, they'll use any war as an excuse for regime change of the majority of the governments over there; e.g. Iran, Syria and maybe Saudi Arabia, and others. If there is going to be such a large conflict anyway, why not try making something good out of it? After all Afghanistan and Iraq likely would not be as big problems as they are now if it wasn't for outside money, arms and recruits from the countries listed above.

Iran is stonewalling bigtime now in this issue. They are buying time in this Nuclear Standoff as well the 15 seized sailors standoff.

To a point. If the oil companies say that their costs have increased due to a hurricane, a change in the fuel mixture or an extreme cold snap, they WILL RISE and have.

Was the lead story tonight. This is not good. The U.S. believed as late as last week that it would be close to 2015 before they were capable.

Why would anyone be surprised with a "leak" such as this, under the current situation?

I also saw it on the ABC evening news and really it's scary stuff to now have that timeline for them to have the bomb and for sure this report will cause Israel to be very nervous.I would like to see bigtime pressure to Iran about the Nuclear Program, much more than what so far the U.S has done.By bigtime pressure I mean setting a deadline to Iran to dismantle it's Nuclear Program or military action would be in the cards.

How do we know for sure they don't have a bomb yet, or several for that matter? After all the intelligence on Iraq has already proven that us in the West don't really know what is going on in that region.
