However, heavy rain, lightning and a burst of 50-60mph winds that lasted 1-3 minutes sure made this an exciting night. The wind even did some minor damages in this area. Can't wait to see what daylight brings.

I'm getting ready to go out and do as much of a damage survey as I can. Tried earlier and couldn't due to flooding. We had about 15 minutes of 40-60 mph winds in gusts and 3, yes I said 3 different hailstorms tonight. We have had 3.27" of rain. All of the reports from Hammerly and Beltway by the news are my area. I live a block north of Hammerly near Gessner.

I want to know who sent all that our way!! And now there appears to be more coming in from the west. I think someone doesn't like me!!! :( :(

Oh, I still can't get out to do the survey the water has not receeded at all. I have never in my 20 years at this house seen this happen.

Oh my - I had no idea the weather was so bad over there. I was at the ballpark tonight and we haven't had a drop or heard a clap of thunder. It's hard to believe it's that bad over there and nothing at all over here.

David, I hope you don't have any damage from all that.... my goodness!!

Edit: It does look like some of it is making its way over here and we should get "something" in a little while.

It looks like most of y'all recieved a good 'ol fasion thumping last night. Me on the other hand didn't see anything like y'all did. We had ALOT of lightning and thunder with a soaking rain that lasted about 2 hours...just a good moderate rain with very little wind. That's exactly what I wanted for my garden.

It looks like convection is starting to fire off along the coast right now.

damages I saw today...

-Downed heavy flower and plant pots
-Downed tree limbs (especially right next door where there are multiple small pine tree limbs down)
-Lots of twigs and leaves scattered about
-A few bent signs

Other than that though, no major damage issues in the area.

Here is a short (4 min. 15 sec.) Youtube video I put together of the storms last evening. I wasn't able to shoot the very strongest part (when there was a burst of 50-60mph winds), but I did get some good shots of clouds, lightning, gusty winds (to 40mph+ at times), and heavy rainfall. Since this is a 1-2 hour storm squeezed into 4 minutes though, the video really doesn't do it justice.

BTW: The picture at the beginning of the video is an actual lightning bolt that I captured on camera last night. The bolt happens so fast on the actual video that most of the time you will not see it, but after a very slow search of the footage I was able to find it and use it in the title.

Damage I noted in our area this morning. A few homes in our area did get water in them. Quite a few large limbs down, including 2 6"ers in our yard. I didn't see but have a report from family just to our NW of whole trees uprooted also. Tons of debris littering the ground from the 3 hailstorms we had. It does appear that the paint on both of our vehicles could be chipped, but surprisingly I don't see any dents(thanks to heavy tree coverage slowing the hail).

I wasn't expecting any storms yesterday. Everyone was swimming in the pool at my parent's house when we started hearing a lot of thunder. Turns out there was a lot of large hail in the area, but there wasn't any where I was. After it all passed, we were back in the pool.

We have severe thunderstorms producing hail just to my south, I can hear the thunder but they aren't moving much. I didn't anticipate this being a big thunderstorm day but every storm on the radar has been severe so far. Hopefully we can get some rain today without the severe weather.

We got a really nice thundershower with a good inch of rain late yesterday afternoon. I'm hearing thunder rolling around nearby again this afternoon. I'm kinda liking these afternoon rains. :D
