June global temperature map is out. The rest of it comes out on the 16th. Pretty telling.

Some cooler than average temperatures yes but in general it looks to me like there are higher levels of warmer than average anomalies on that map.

Agree...huge stretches of land with well above normal temps..interesting how the above normal areas are in the same mid-latitudes....almost a straight east-west line of above normal temps from Northern U.S. ro Europe to Central Asia

why is this map being used with a 1961-1990 base period? Shouldn't they be using it with a 1971-2000 base period?

This pretty much proves that the climate is now stable. The latest comes in with not breaking the 9 year none rise. Tell me this how on earth can you have global warming with no warming? Most of the .6c happen during the 1900-1940s, then again from 1980-98. 2005 we did tie...But come on, were is this rise? If this keeps up into 2010 like this then its time to rethink some things.

As you well know (because you've been told an absurd number of times) 1998 was a huge el Nino year. That 2005 (not an el Nino year) tied 1998 is in and of itself indicative of an ongoing warming trend. But more to the point, the continued warming trend is clear in the smoothed data.

You are right X-Y-No, Also it has a lot to do with the oceans. The land is warming up slowly but the oceans are the thing that is keeping year after year from being records. We will see.
