I think people in Mexico would disagree with you. This storm is not going to make good news anywhere it makes landfall.

Well, everyone thought Rita was going to be Houston's Katrina until it got a little closer to the time. I figure Dean is going to be much the same - hard to say where he'll go at this point. We'll know more in a few days. In any case, it's good to spend some time this weekend reviewing plans, double checking supplies and so forth.

That upper low east of Florida... I've been hearing that the forecast is for that to keep the same pace (westward) as Dean is moving. I was watching the water vapor loop and it doesn't look like it's moving anywhere near the pace Dean is going. Maybe my eyes are decieving me, but I would not be shocked to see the forecast track to shift a little more to the right tonight.

TS conditions likely for the northern islands. Dean is really expanding in size and likely will grow to maybe Gilbert's size

It looks about the same. Has the same tight core with banding that it has had all day. Convection may have weaned a little this evening, but should pickup later tonight and tomorrow morning.
