Texas hurricane rate unchanged

#1 Postby Stormtrack » Sat Aug 25, 2007 10:38 pm

How has the "active period" affected the rate of hurricane strikes in Texas? Surprisingly, perhaps, not at all so far. There were 4 hurricane hits in the 12-year period '95-'06 the same as in the 2 previous 12-year periods '83-'94 and '71-'82. Pretty cool site, but I question its accuracy. It says that Ivan made a loop back and made landfall in SETX as a Cat1 Hurricane. if I recall correctly, Ivan only made it up merely to a 50MPH Tropical Storm after rebirth.
