HUH????
And these jokers want to supplant the NHC as the official source of storm info?
Unbelievable!

Well, the cone looks fine - I've no problem with that.
But 988mb? I will eat my hat if recon finds that.

It's America. You can sue anyone for anything.
But in reality, I'm guessing if they have a disclaimer, they are safe.

I'd say it is really around 1005mb. 988 in this environment would be about a 65 kt hurricane...

My quick glance did not see a disclaimer on that page.

Why would you need a disclaimer for a forecast. I would suggest that the entire company has a disclaimer that says they are in the business of forecasting and that forecasts might not be accurate.

1000 mb, maybe. 988, no.
But I do think this is about to become a depression, if it isn't one yet.

I see no issue with AccuWeather telling their clients that this is most likely a depression now. I'm having to do the same thing with our clients. I've been calling them and telling them this is a depression without a name yet. They need to know where it'll be in 5 days and I'm giving them our forecast. Can't wait for the NHC to act, they need to take actions now (before everyone leaves work for the holiday weekend). That 988mb doesn't look unreasonable, considering the GFDL was forecasting 110 kts as it approached Nicaragua on a few of yesterday's runs. Much will depend on how much interaction it has with South America.
