Interresting ITCZ activity beetween 50W-55W

#1 Postby Gustywind » Tue Oct 30, 2007 6:58 pm

Seems that there's some real activity today within the ITCZ, i don't tkink that something will happen for the moment due to the strong shear but NHC mention it and is speaking about a possible twave near the ITCZ beetween 20w-45w. But nothing to worry about ...we have time to see if a wave can be really observed in this very convective area ,and maintains some convection with it ... just an observation for my untrained eyes :double:
...THE ITCZ...
THE ITCZ AXIS IS CENTERED ALONG 8N13W 8N30W 5N45W 3N52W. A FAIRLY LARGE AREA OF ACTIVE WEATHER IS NEAR THE ITCZ BETWEEN 20W-45W. SPECIFICALLY...NUMEROUS MODERATE WITH EMBEDDED AREAS OF STRONG CONVECTION ARE WITHIN 150NM N AND 90NM S OF THE AXIS BETWEEN 21W-44W. IT IS PROBABLE THAT AT LEAST ONE LOW AMPLITUDE TROPICAL WAVE IS EMBEDDED IN THIS REGION. THE DAKAR RAOB DATA SHOWED A CLEAR WAVE PASSAGE AROUND 12Z ON OCTOBER 27...WITH THE SAL SOUNDING DATA SHOWING A SIMILAR PASSAGE ABOUT A DAY LATER. BASED SOLELY ON FORWARD EXTRAPOLATION...THIS WOULD MEAN THAT A LOW AMPLITUDE TROPICAL WAVE IS SOMEWHERE IN THE VICINITY OF 33W. THIS ALSO COINCIDES TO WHERE THE MOST POLEWARD INFLECTION OF THE ITCZ IS. THERE APPEARS TO BE SOME SUBTLE LOW LEVEL CYCLONIC TURNING IN THIS REGION...BUT THE FEATURE IS NOT WELL-DEFINED. GIVEN THE RATHER POOR SATELLITE APPEARANCE AT THE MOMENT...AND THE FACT THAT THE WAVE WILL UNDOUBTEDLY BE DIFFICULT TO TRACK...HAVE OPTED TO LEAVE THE FEATURE OFF AT THE MOMENT. WILL
REVISIT THIS ON FUTURE MAPS.
8-) :P

Good morning, Gustywind! Now that two days have passed, you should change the title of this thread to read "Interesting ITCZ activity between 50-55W". There is a swirl now near 13N 52.5W, seen clearly on all satellite loop views. Actually this looks like a low.

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/east/catl/loop-avn.html

8amTWD: "A CUT-OFF UPPER LOW IN THE TROPICAL ATLC NEAR 12N52W IS PRODUCING A SMALL AREA OF CLOUDINESS AND ISOLATED SHOWERS FROM 11N-14N BETWEEN 50W-53W."

Hi bvigal glad to see you :D , yeah maybe i have to change it lool; i was so busy and i don't pay attention to that but if you want to change it you can no matter i permit you to change it if you want ...and given the latest TWD 805 am sure that there's an area of showers, so i'm agree with you, the area is more to the west and not at 20 w 45w :) and a usual i will monitor it if convection can sufficient to support something , so tkanks for the info, you're right my leeward neighbour, good job bvigal  tkanks and see you soon..
