Good heavens! Tornado emergency possibly for Salina if NWS has any inclination that there's a large tornado on the ground. Radar seems to suggest something big.

4 dead, 40 hurt as tornado hits Boy Scout camp

By The Associated Press
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- A spokeswoman for Iowa Homeland Security says at least four people were killed and 40 injured when a tornado struck a western Iowa Boy Scout camp.

Iowa Homeland Security spokeswoman Julie Tack says a search and rescue team has been deployed to the camp near Little Sioux in Harrison County. She says the camp is covered with debris and downed trees after the tornado hit about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Tack says there were 93 campers and 25 staff members at the camp. The campers were between 13 and 18 years old and were attending a leadership training camp.

"They were considered some of the best in the area," Tack said.

At least 40 people who were injured in the storm were being taken to area hospitals.

According to reports on local TV, most of the injuries were to the head. Apparently, they had plenty of warning, but no shelter.

Yes, projected arrival time is 9:51 - they seem to be hit point blank

The storm blasted through town very quickly. It appears to have gone right over the airport and the S portions of town. Here are the latest special obs from Salina airport:

KSLN...

9:48 pm NNW 22G51 -TSRA RMK FUNNEL CLOUD
9:46 pm NNW 26G51 +TSRAGR RMK FUNNEL CLOUD
9:44 pm WSW 20G51 +TSRAGR RMK FUNNEL CLOUD

Very quick wind shift and funnel cloud reported. Perhaps it wasn't on the ground then but it looked scary on radar.
