I thought there was no way this would ever be annular but you have to admit it conforms to some of the annular tendencies described in the link. So "semi-annular" sounds right. Also, they said "had to be 85Kts at one point."

A thought:

So, if 390 Bermuda's could fit in the eye and Bertha were to stall while the eye was over (one of the 390) Bermuda(s); then the weather there would be quite pleasant for quite a while. Getting to and from there might be difficult but it would be nice there with lots of birds chirping, no rain and light winds (if any).

That would be one of the great weather experiences in recored human history. Just to be in the eye of a hurricane for a day...or more? Wow.

We went through a streak here of Hurricane Eye experiences.
Hobe Sound (FL) had Francis and Jeanne 3 weeks apart
The entire Palm Beach County had Wilma (particularly interesting since it was around Noon so you could see).
In my little scenario Bermuda would be in the eye for a very long time.....

In Wilma's eye it was still quite overcast,it wasn't all blue and sunny out.It was just cloudy with a little breeze.

:uarrow:

Hmmm

I sat in the bar of the Southampton Princess Hotel on the S side of the island during a spring Gale for 2 days or so ;)

That place is only a point of land. On hard rock. Solidly built.

Gonna take more than a glancing blow from Cat 1 Bertha to knock anything down on that island.

However, five days or more stay with Bertha's storm could be much more difficult.

The inner eyewall is not giving up.

Heh...this is interesting. On the IR, looks like the EWRC is actually backfiring and reversing itself...is that even possible? The inner remnants are regaining strength while the outer eyewall is falling apart. The inner wall is nearly 50% Complete, it looks like, with some color going all the way around it.

Looks similar to what the eye of Hurricane Wilma did. The outer eyewall tried killing the 2 nmi wall off, but that little sucker hung in there for a couple more days before finally succumbing to the outer wall.

This time though, could it go all the way?

What is wrong with this thing?
We have an ewrc where the inner eyewall is refiring convection. Is that possible?

:uarrow: I think one of our more experienced hurricanes could teach Bertha a thing or two about eyewall replacements.

Seriously, though, while Wilma was stubborn about it, her inner eyewall was completely gone by the time she got to South Florida. I think it took about a day for it to dissipate. This one is going on day three here.

Would that mean the storm is strengthening or weakening?

To be honest, I've never seen an ERC that went "Backwards", so I could not tell you. What will be interesting is if this continues.

Cozumel spent almost 24 hours in Wilma's eye. Must've been surreal, especially if you could see the eyewall whipping around.

I sent an e-mail to the Public Affairs e-mail on the contact list, asking about this ERC and the process in general...their reply should be interesting, and I hope quick!

Ive got a short minute to post, but im truly surprised to see that inner eyewall still there. Could there be a reverse EWRC?
