I know Lyons is said to be knowledgeable, but I thought he was supposed to carry the nhc's water as he is talking to the public in the warning area? I highly doubt this will be a cat4.

He was speaking in general about how catostrophic a Cat 4 would be to Houston. Not about Dolly inparticular.

If that happened with Dolly alot of mets at the NHC would not have a job after this.

Ok I didn't hear it myself, I just remember reading about in here a few hours ago, and I had to drive to work, so I didn't see what the responses were, and I didn't want o go hunt for it and read all the responses. I just read the last few pages and not any further.

Am I seeing things or is Dolly due west of Brownsville with a good swat of water left until landfall? So much for coming in right at the border.

Satellite images show that Dolly is forming an eye that is visible. The convection looks like it is getting stronger. This could be a strong Cat 1/weak Cat 2 by next advisory.

It has been stationary the last hour or so. No movement.

Also, a lot of people would be dead and Houston area would be devastated.

She's getting ready to move W or WNW. I hope she forms another strong rain band to her north by tomorrow, Houston needs the rain!

I think Dolly will be probably a Cat 2 at most a minimal Cat 3 if it is able to strengthen quickly while being nearly stationary.

EDIT: Picture

And here is the link to satellite at NHC.

nope

Dolly continues to move to the WNW. Just did the 12 a.m. CDT outlook on nwhhc

Dolly is right on track based upon the last vortex message

Now has to move about 310 to hit the border... and its moving closer to 295

Do you have anything to back that up or is that plain speculation?

what bad trend, Aric?

recon just reported that the pressure has not changed at all in the last 5mb

this close to land, we should stick to the facts. Yes, it is a LITTLE better organized, but it is NOT intensifying at this time

What (city or place)is at 295 Derek? I saw the circle earlier someone posted about the degrees but how do we know what is at that particular point? Is there a map of these points I can see? Or is it relative to where the eye happens to be at the time?

By "it is moving closer to 295" he was talking about the direction of movement being 295 degrees, not a particular place.
