There isn't an unlimited supply of names, the current system is fine.

Well, that list follows exactly the same pattern now used in the Atlantic. If anything, it could be changed to a rotating list or simply designing a brand-new list for each season. In addition, I don't see the real purpose of beginning at "A" each year, or following alphabetical order for that matter.
There isn't an unlimited supply of names, the current system is fine.
Actually there is quite a selection of names that have yet to be used for Atlantic storms. While storm identification is not a critical matter when compared with preparation and forecast improvement, using the same names can become confusing and cumbersome, particularly for us stormtrackers.

I would like to know what's wrong with my name, Rosemarie. It hurts not to be chosen. Was I even nominated at some point and discarded for some reason. LOL.

Hey, at least your name isn't 'Graham'. No chance in Detroit they ever put that on a list. Rosemary, the alternate spelling, is somewhat conventional so has a chance.
Here's my list that means nothing that I did because I was bored.
Aretha
Byron
Charlotte
Derek
Elizabeth
Ferguson
Gillian
Hayden
Ilia
Jared
Kayla
Logan

Nigel
Olive
Phoenix

Quoting the National Hurricane Center, the reason hurricanes are named is because:
" Experience shows that the use of short, distinctive given names in written as well as spoken communications is quicker and less subject to error than the older more cumbersome latitude-longitude identification methods."
So the main criteria for a list of hurricane names should be that they are short and distinctive. "Distinctive" would surely include being different enough from all other names on the list in the same year so the possibility of confusing the names is low. So Jim and Pim on the same list, especially right next to other, would be a very bad idea. I think that on the actual list for this year it is unfortunate that they have both Hanna and Nana, which sound too much alike.
Personally I also think that pet forms ending in -y are too "friendly" or infantile sounding for a hurricane. I would prefer names that are easier to make sound threatening. So I don't like Debby and Danny as hurricane names. Deb, Deborah, Dan, and Daniel would be better.
I don't see a great need to change the present lists. But I do think the explanation that the reason they don't include names starting with Y and Z because "there aren't enough of them" is wrong. I think there are more than enough names starting with those two letters that they could be added to the Atlantic lists with no problems. This has always been true for Z, and is now true for Y partly because there are so many names starting with Y that have become popular with Spanish speaking people in the Western Hemisphere the last few decades.
Male Y names: Yancey, Yannick, Yahir, Yale, Yul, Yves, Yair, Yusef, Yasir, Yorath
Female Y names: Yetta, Yvonne, Yvette, Yesenia, Yadira, Yara, Yaritza, Yasmin, Yahaira, Yareli, Yuridia
Male Z names: Zack, Zachary, Zeb, Zebedee, Zane, Zaden, Zeno, Zander, Zalmon, Zebulon, Zion, Zubin, Ziggy, Zorro
Female Z names: Zoe, Zora, Zola, Zuleika, Zara, Zelma, Zella, Zenobia, Zillah, Zina, Zanna, Zelie, Zita, Zenaida
So you could find 6 Y and Z names for the lists and have lots of replacements left over, without using Yolanda, York, Zelda, and Zeke which are on the EPAC lists.

Not really... I think those names are just too weird. I think a storm name after a fruit and what not is just too weird. I know some people from that part of Asia and they said the new name is really weird and they were more used to the old system of english name.
The only thing i like about W. Pac system right now is they how use the names. Unlike Atlantic names the last few names rare used. There is more A storms retired than W storms out there.

yeah, that's what i really like about it... i suggest that if they would end perhaps with marco this year, they should begin with nana the next year instead of ana
