I mean erratic motions and deformity of bands near the center. I think a minor d-max is occurring right now with a minor Dvorak improvement in the form of a band.

Better than be safe and prepared than be sorry.

So far just the faintest breezes here and no rain since a shower about 4pm. Frogs are croaking.

Sometimes I have to wonder what it must have been like back in the very old days when these storms came up out of calm like we have here this evening, and people had no idea they were coming, or how intense they'd get. It must have been terrifying.

Well...I've been watching this for a while now, and decided to go ahead and post...lol

Here in Cape Coral, we are just starting to get some rain and a little rain. I imagine I'll be up all night watching, just as I have for the past three or four...lol So, I figured I may as well post :)

mattpetre wrote:On topic: Overall the forecast track has been exceptional considering this has just been a TS, but I do believe we got pretty lucky that this did hit almost all of the Islands of the N. Carribean. I empathize with those that have losses, but had Fay gone N. of the islands, I'm pretty sure we would have a much stronger storm on our hands now (or earlier). That ULL and land interaction did much to save us from a more powerful storm so far.

Bit off topic: I think I understand -removed- now... If this storm actually had a snowballs chance of effecting the Houston Metro area (where I live now), then my wife wouldn't have a problem with me staying up till midnight or later checking on the storm. However, since I'm just staying up because I simply love watching chaotic patterns develop into something sensible, she just doesn't get it. Guess the whole possible westward motion thing gives me something to tell her in the morning as she's begging me to get out of bed in time to beat traffic.

I think we've all had to do that from time to time Matt!

just thought it would be nice to have this radar view bumped . . .

Radar doesnt look quite as impressive right now, but im not surprised, everyday this is when Fay always looks weakest, and it gets its act together early morning, but will it run out of time?

2 power surges within 3 minutes. It has been pouring here for over an hour, with heavy winds.

Good luck to everyone in FL (esp. SW) tonight. Heading to bed to see what surprises are in store tomorrow. I'll leave you with this as an addendum to the 500mb steering product I linked earlier. Looks like things are quickly changing as far as steering. That high over the Upper Plains could be key. Doesn't look like anything is moving fast, just very chaotically. Take it for what it's worth. I still wouldn't be totally surprised to see another landfall west of NO, but that's a very humble and unproffesional opinion. Good night and good luck.
