When the NEW eyewall hits shore. The declaration will come in the morning.

The eyewall is shrinking rather rapidly, but I think i see a north wobble (I hope).

I've got this sped up to judge motion.

Sooner, sand hitting you at *30* mph just plain hurts. My wife and I made the mistake of going to Blowing Rocks when Ike was coming near the keys (great place with exposed limestone that at high tide gives a spectacular show of well.... Blowing Rocks) - steady 20-30mph winds drove us and our sandblasted camera glass away pretty quick.

Yeah, but you didn't have to have someone pick the grains out of your skin with a sterilized exacto knife...

TWC live report from Houston just now showed pretty strong winds, but he was standing under a overhang so may have had some funnel effect.

Downtown Houston - a lot of wind, a tiny bit of rain, but overall not exactly what I expected by this hour...I'm sure it's coming though. I was on the top of the garage (7th floor) and could see transformers way way in the distance popping off like crazy. I'm inside now, fyi. :)

305 angle: west end of Galveston Island
315 angle: middle of G.I.
335 angle: downtown Galveston (and the far north end of Galveston Bay)

It's just the north side filling in, he's hardly moved in that radar loop (put a erasable marker on the center of the eye at the beginning of the loop and the end)

I bet it's reading kph - kilometers per hour. 127 kph would be around 75 mph, which I could believe.

In short, it's too late for Galveston to avoid the worst.

I dont know about the wobbles, butGFS still has the pass west of Downtown still, which would tell me a passage to R of the bay is still pretty slim chance in the grand scheme since the other models seem to do the same. Having said that, I think picking out motion on these contraction eyes is a futile effort....I give up.
