Radar on KHOU appears to indicate the eye is getting smaller. I hope that is not the case....

It doesn't really matter since Galveston's meter has gone out. TWC recently said 11 feet was reported but I'd guess it's probably up to 12 by now.

Inner eyewall now coming ashore on the east end of Galveston Island, winds coming from the east. That also looks to be where the center of the eye should make landfall, tracking through Galveston Bay to the Harris-Chambers line on the north end of the bay.
Don't know what this means as far as the "multi-billion dollar" difference in damages, though. Anyone?

Yup, and I'm very frustrated as the latest recon was not able to report the NE eyewall winds. I just hope this isn't the last pass because if it is we might never know if he was able to make it to Category 3.

You got to hand it to the Galveston sea wall, it has holded against a force that would of destroyed many miles of New orleans levee's...This storm is nearly taking a direct hit so far. Lets see if it can hold...These people knew how to build a sea wall after a strong cat4 hit them in 1900...In I'm sure that they made it to stand up to another like it, in Ike is a good part weaker as a cyclone then it. Yes, Ike is much bigger, but still this will will fight to protect the people of Galveston. Some times things built a long time ago are stronger then most stuff made today.

I don't know if I posted my topic right but I'm worried about my family on the west end of Galveston.

AFAIK, Some of Galveston's meters are still working.
