Strong storm moving in from my east. Looks like hail may be involved (although chances are low-moderate). Dark skies, and moderate winds with thunder right now.

Front is going to be moving through the area tonight through sunday bringing more comfortable air. Upper 50's are possible in parts of Tampa Bay with this front. Coastal areas will making it to the mid-60's.

Temperatures dipped to 71F at Miami International Airport this morning.
Among the coolest temperatures for past few months:

July 2 2008 71F 2.86 inches of rain fell
June 19 2008 71F 0.34 inches of rain that day

Nice and cool(er) out there right now, and with a moderate breeze, it feels pretty good.

Going to be cloe tonight for fort lauderdale and miami seeing the first low below 70 since last spring. NWS Miami gave the following forecast numbers in the latest Discussion (4 numbers after each city are tonight's low/sunday's high/sunday night's low/monday's high).

PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS
WEST PALM BEACH 67 81 69 82
FORT LAUDERDALE 69 83 73 83
MIAMI 70 83 71 84
NAPLES 70 83 65 86

Tonight will be the 'coolest' night for at least the next several nights...lows inch back into the low and mid-70s during the upcoming week.

I see that they are already down to 63F in Orlando and it is still hours from sunrise. Definitely looks like it is shaping up to be their chilliest morning so far this fall in that area.

Looks like we can scratch the idea of below 70 tonight in Miami and Fort Lauderdale...temps and dewpoints haven't budged much at all in hours.....2am temp/dewpt readings from NWS Miami...

FT LAUDERDALE PTCLDY 76 70
MIAMI PTCLDY 75 70

update....3am temps and Fort Lauderdale has warmed to 77 deg and Miami is steady at 75 deg.

Was a light breeze present overnight? That factor could have halted any radiational cooling via mixing of warmer temperatures (aloft) to the surface.

Regardless, I'm amazed that the NWS Miami office is too cool with the overnight lows (on an incredibly frequent basis) these days... many progged "cool/cold" outbreaks eventually materialize as average (or even above average!) overnight lows/daytime highs.

Yep, turned out several degrees warmer last night than originally forecast...dewpoints stayed in the upper 60's to low 70's all night....not going to see a real cooldown with those kinds of readings..

...THE MIAMI CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR OCTOBER 19 2008...
VALID AS OF 0700 AM LOCAL TIME.
MINIMUM 73 626 AM

THE FORT LAUDERDALE CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR OCTOBER 19 2008...
VALID AS OF 0700 AM LOCAL TIME.
MINIMUM 74 627 AM

Brrrr, was 60* this morning here in Orlando, should be a gorgeous day this afternoon with mid 70's as the highs.
This is the weather I enjoy, any cooler and I don't like it. :P

This event does not even deserve a classification as a "cool down" in south Florida... the official NWS forecasts call for highs in the low to mid 80s today. Daily high temperatures are progged to INCREASE after today's frontal passage! The rapid wind shift to the northeast will kill any chances of sub-70 F overnight lows...

It is getting to that time of year where the difference in climate as you move north of lake o becomes apparent...the forecast high in orlando is equal to the low last night in south fl...and we have dewpts around 70 with a NE wind flow compared to your north wind with dewpts in the 50s!

At 10am...

ORLANDO INTL SUNNY TEMP 68 DEWPT 54 WIND N 13

FT LAUDERDALE PTSUNNY TEMP 78 DEWPT 70 WIND NE8
