I was looking at some of the latest Florida forecasts, and it appears as though the first true "fall-like" front is on the way for the sunshine state next week. Highs behind the front will fall into the middle 60s in Tallahassee, into the lower 70s in Orlando, and into the upper 70s in Miami. Lows will also take a nose dive, ranging from 43F in Tallahassee to 52F in Orlando to 62F in Miami.
I am sure you guys are really looking forward to this!

Re:
Looking forward to it like those up north look forward to warm, sunny spring days after months of cold winter...except for us it was 6 months of heat and humidity and storms!!!
"The season" as it is called down here starts right about now/early November and goes through Spring Break time....time of year when visitors and locals alike feel blessed to be here.

Re: Florida Weather Thread - Another front by the weekend
Wow, several sub-80F highs forecast at Miami next week... but there was one yesterday as well.
With a high of just 79F at Miami International Airport on Thu Oct 23/2008, aided by clouds and rainfall.. that was the coolest daytime high in over 6 months.
April 18th 2008 High 79F
April 16th 2008 High 78F
For even cooler readings than that, you have to go back to late March.

Re: Florida Weather Thread - Another front by the weekend
Looks like Miami (and Fort Lauderdale) will finally get the first nighttime low temp below 70 degrees this Fall in the upcoming week. Not too unusual that a below 70 reading (at the official reporting stations at both citie’s airports) hasn’t happened yet. Looking at recent weather history, the first night below 70 has been taking place anywhere from mid-October to early November.
So far in October 2008, the lowest temp in Miami has been 70 degrees. In Fort Laudedale, the lowest month to date this October has been 73 degrees.
The average high/low for today in Miami is 84/71 and in Fort Lauderdale is 85/70.
To given an idea of how the temps forecast for next week compare to records for the date….nothing even close to record lows is currently forecast. The forecast starting Monday does, however, sound like a Chamber of Commerce dream!
Tonight: Showers likely, mainly before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 75. Breezy.
Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86.
Saturday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73.
Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84..
Sunday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71.
Monday: Sunny, with a high near 82.
Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 65.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 80..
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 64.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 80.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 66.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82.

Record Minimum Low Temps/Record Minimum High Temps at Miami (MIA) for the upcoming week are
(from NWS Miami Local Climate Data):

10/28 – 51/73
10/29 – 45/74
10/30 – 46/71

It's definitely not every October that central FL is lucky enough to see a day like that. In fact, last October Orlando never even dropped below 64F the entire month!
Here in St. Pete, the NWS is forecasting a low of 50, high of 66. I keep looking at that thinking its going to be wrong. But Ill Take it!!!

Wow is this going to be a rude awakening. The Ruskin point and click puts me @ 44 Tuesday morning. A normal January low is 50! I came down here to get away from this crap! at least it won't last. I'm sure we'll rebound back to some terrific fall weather Florida style... 80 degree days and 60 degree nights.

Re: Florida Weather Thread - Coldest air of the season on the wa
I was impressed with Orlando's forecast earlier, but now I am REALLY impressed. This cold snap has the potential to be the coldest central Florida has EVER seen during the month of October!
The current forecast for Tuesday now calls for a high of 65F and a low of 44F in Orlando. To compare, the ALL TIME coldest high for the month is 62F (set in 1989) and the ALL TIME coldest low for the month is 43F (set in 1957). If the current forecast (65F/44F) plays out, then Orlando will come dangerously close to tying to breaking these records. Simply amazing!

One thing to note is that early cold snaps like this sometimes mean an interesting Florida winter lies ahead. As you can see above, Orlando's all-time coldest high for October came during 1989. I think we all know what followed that event 2 months later...the 1989 pre-Christmas freeze. It will be very interesting to see if this December features another 1989-like cold shot into the sunshine state.

47 Monday night for me and 41
Tuesday night.
If that forecast holds - we may actually hit the high 30's at my house as we are generally a couple of degrees cooler than forecast during cold spells.

With the old system of point forecast, that would be true here too. Ill see if it holds with the new system.
