You can see how the brisk WNW to NW winds are keeping all of Palm Beach County relatively warm so far -- the arctic airmass is being modified some as it blows over the warmer lake...however once winds turn more NNW and slacken a bit, the effect is not nearly as much. It's intersting to note the dewpoints also, which are all above 40F south of Lake O -- makes me wonder if low temps need to be nudged up some for the SE counties of Florida (maybe lows in the upper 30s to mid 40s instead)

11:13PM, my lacrosse is reading 26.9F.
Only forecast to get to 24F, think I might smash that....

Re: Florida Weather Thread: cooler pattern
The only reason why Pinellas County is not in a freeze warning tonight is that westerly component of the NW windflow bringing in those clouds....
but you are right, once those clouds are gone, and that windflow veers more North...temps will plunge, however, those winds will probably not veer north until tomorrow ---

Well it feels really cold outside but it isn't... 48 at st pete clearwater airport and 46 at tampa per the obs just before midnight. absent a big plunge later tonight i think all of pinellas will have trouble dropping under 40. upstream temps don't look too impressive either... lots of low 30's in north florida. I would have expected lower temps for those regions by now. tomorrow night is a different story. it looks like an ideal radiational cooling setup that could deliver freeze damage to the tampa bay metro region.

29.6* right now at home. 30* when I left about an hour ago. I'm sure glad the wind wasn't blowing as hard as it was yesterday!
