Lower than I would have guessed...it may not happen often, but apparently a cold snap in april is not unheard of...

Per Nws Tampa Bay...
This colder air along with the clouds will keep daytime temperatures on Tuesday 10 to as much as 20 degrees below normal, with highs mostly in the 60s, except lower 70s over Southwest Florida. These temperatures will be close to the record low maximums for the date at some locations across West Central and Southwest Florida.

Record Low Maximum:
April 7
Tampa (airport) - 60 (forecast for 4/7 is 65)
Fort Myers - 66 (forecast 4/7 is 71)

Overnight lows Tuesday night will also be well below normal with temperatures falling into the 30s across the Nature Coast and 40s elsewhere away from the coast. A few of the normally colder inland locations across the Nature Coast could even drop to near freezing. These cold temperatures could approach record levels in a few spots across West Central and Southwest Florida

Record Low Minimum:
April 8
Tampa (airport) - 40 (forecast is 42)
Fort Myers - 39 (forecast is 45)

During Wednesday night the high will move across the Florida peninsula and out into the Western Atlantic Ocean. This will allow winds to become light under mainly clear skies setting us up for good radiational cooling. Temperatures Wednesday night into Thursday morning are expected to fall into the upper 30s to lower 40s across much of the Nature Coast with middle to upper 40s stretching southward into inland portions of Southwest Florida. These low temperatures should remain above the record lows for April 9

An interesting record:- Key West FL failed to fall below 77F on Sun Apr 5, tying a record set in 1982 as the warmest low temperature recorded on this date.

90F was recorded at West Kendall FL and WInter Haven FL on Sunday, but Miami fell shy of that mark by just 1 degree..and the 3rd time this month that the temp reached 89F.

Not sure if our 76.6* low last night was accurate - but that is warm as a low for this time. Humid.

Makings of a beautiful day already...sunny and breezy with temps in the mid 60's as of last report. NWS Miami has nudged up forecast temps a bit tonight along the coast with most areas staying in the low to mid 50's.

I am also glad to be able to turn off the a/c for possibly the last time until next fall....

Believe it or not it has gotten much colder in april...tonight's record low in Fort Myers is 39 (set in 1950). Should stay at least 6-10 deg above that tonight.

Per NWS Tampa Bay, recent years have seen these temps (lowest temp recorded during the month of April in Fort Myers):
April 2008 - 51F
April 2007 - 49F
April 2006 - 56F
April 2005 - 51F

So temps in the 40's, although not forecast to set any records, are a bit colder than has been seen in recent Aprils.

Winds have turned to the se at both Miami and Fort Lauderdale as of noon....cool nights are now going to become a distant memory....quite possibly could be months before lows in the 50s are seen again. Forecast low tonight in Miami is 67. Only goes up from there in the forecast from Friday night into the weekend and next week.

Looks like some of the moisture that north Florida got last week is heading southward, though not in a particularly good sort of way. So far, I've heard reports of 50 homes in Hamilton County destroyed and 100 homes underwater in Madison County from floods.

http://www.floridadisaster.org/index.asp

All residents and travelers in north Florida should be on alert for rapidly changing conditions due to high water levels as a result of recent rains in the region. U.S. 90 at the Suwannee River (Madison and Suwannee County line) could be closed to all traffic as early as Thursday. If the water levels continue to rise, Interstate 10 (I-10) at the Suwannee River could also be closed as early as Friday.

“We are asking all residents and travelers in north and north-central Florida to pay close attention to possible road closures due to recent rainfall,” said Governor Charlie Crist. “We are ramping up state operations to respond to the affected counties and support local governments. We are also urging residents living near the river to pay close attention to media reports, review their disaster plans and be prepared for possible evacuation orders.” For real-time information on traffic conditions call 511 or visit http://www.FL511.com before getting on the road.
