Perturbed area crossing the Windwards/Leewards Islands

#1 Postby Gustywind » Mon Jun 15, 2009 10:51 am

Hi everybody! A new perturbed area is right now crossing all the islands beetwen St Vincent and Antigua. Meteo-France Martinica have put an yellow and Guadeloupe too at 11 AM. Strong showers with moderate tstorms should bring nice amounts of water during the next 24-48H, and thus, Meteo-France is anticipating for maybe an yellow orange alert in Guadeloupe if the showers continue to amplify. Yesterday night Dominica has been sprayed nicely! Basse-Terre has just experienced 40 to 60 millimeters in a few hours this morning! Hope my friend HUC from Basse-Terre is ok...meaning that it's just light to moderate amounts not... strong!
Let's see what happens during the next couple of hours, i will check you informed if the situations evolves.
What the weather like in PR Luis the others too in the carib islands? Tell me. Here is the latest sat pic from Meteo-France :darrow:

Nice regards from Guadeloupe

During the last 10 minutes, thunder is rumbling nicelyand sometimes scattered lightning are present in my area. Weather is grey, overcast, rain was moderate but light now, wind is calm.
Looking at the upper levels winds, seems that shear is preventing any formation and that's the good news :darrow:

Nothing out of the ordinary here with the usual diurnal showers occuring since April, except when a Tropical Wave or a upper trough moves thru, then more widespread rain has fallen. That disturbed weather area will reach PR by tommorow.Below is a closeup of the area.No circulation is seen.

Ok glad to see that Luis, tkanks for the sat pics. This feature does not seems organized, it will bring the water need for all the islands after several dry days  particulary in Guadeloupe, we were suffocating yesterday too hot and dry trying to take a good breath! :P

THE ATLANTIC OCEAN...
BROAD MIDDLE LEVEL TO UPPER LEVEL CYCLONIC FLOW MOVES FROM THE
EASTERN U.S.A. INTO THE WESTERN ATLANTIC OCEAN AROUND A TROUGH
THAT PASSES BEYOND 31N77W TO THE NORTHEAST. AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE
IS ALONG THE LINE FROM THE NORTHERN BAHAMAS NEAR 27N78W TO 29N72W
BEYOND 31N68W. A MIDDLE LEVEL TO UPPER LEVEL TROUGH EXTENDS FROM
A 29N50W CYCLONIC CIRCULATION CENTER TO 21N51W TO 13N57W TO GUYANA
NEAR 5N58W. ISOLATED MODERATE SHOWERS ARE FROM 12N TO 16N BETWEEN
57W AND 63W. THE PRECIPITATION COVERS MOSTLY THE AREAS AROUND AND/OR
ON TOP OF THE CARIBBEAN SEA ISLANDS FROM BARBADOS TO GUADELOUPE.
A MIDDLE LEVEL TO UPPER LEVEL CYCLONIC CIRCULATION CENTER IS ON
TOP OF THE MADEIRA ARCHIPELAGO NEAR 33N16W.
CYCLONIC FLOW EXTENDS
AS FAR TO THE SOUTH AS 25N TO THE EAST OF 22W.

As I said before here, the daily diurnal shower and thunderstorm activity that occurs since early April once again is here.As the disturbed area passes tommorow, there will be more rain for us than we normally get for this time of the year.

Seems that Basse-Terre has experienced juicy amounts near 60 to 120 millimeters (150 near the Volcano " Soufrière"!). Hey HUC what's the weather like in your area? Msbee too?
An improvement is expected this afternoon, but the rain is always moderate and continious.

OHH tkanks my friend , i sincerely appreciate.
You're well informed, that's great! Whereas just a correctif on Le Reizet, it's le "RAIZET" not Rei, le Lemantain= is Le Lamentin Another amounts in Martinica from yesterday 5AM to today 5AM are pretty juicy:
between 50 to 100mm in many, locally 120 to 150mm on N/E tip OF THE ISLAND, 231mm on the extreme North!. For examples (in millimeters in some areas of MARTINICA):
- 95mm at Lamentin.
- 134mm at Ste Marie.
- 231mm at Macouba. (damn!)
- 64mm at Ste Anne.
- 28mm at Diamant.
