Ed Mahmoud wrote:The Michael Jackson death and the Farrah Fawcett death brings, to me, a question I have asked before. A sudden death, with little or no pain, but no chance to make amends, and say good bye to loved ones, or several years of pain and suffering, but an opportunity to tie off the loose ends, and make the final good byes and preparations for death.
Not to worry, he'll get a chance to reunite with loved ones in the life to come. My take on death is that it's simply a transitional period from one state of being to another (better) one. Somewhat like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. The stage when the caterpillar is wrapped in its chrysalis can be likened to death.

Now, can you imagine a butterfly ever wanting to go back to being a caterpillar?

R.I.P. Michael.

Some other things I wanted to post were that it seems like now in June there is someone big who seems to die and this is the new trend of some sort that might be starting. Last year it was Tim Russert and now Michael Jackson. It might be a weak trend but I just thought it was odd.

On CBS I saw the first part of their special coverage and there was a man talking about how he suspects it was the prescription pain-killer drug abuse that did him over. he was very passionate about it and said he would be very vocal about it if the autopsy shows that was the cause of the CA. I wasn't aware of this so that might have been it.

I was watching the late night shows to see if anything about this came up even though most of the shows would have been taping at the exact time it was occurring (or just before). Nothing on Conan, Letterman, Ferguson, or Jimmy Fallon about it except a small message at the start of Jimmy Fallon stating that the show was taped at 5:30 pm EST (must have been not to offend anyone watching). I knew that Jimmy Kimmel Live would have something so when he was on there was a very awkward start to the show where he was actually making jokes about his death and the frenzy over it. The audience was not laughing very much at them. This is the most tense I have ever seen Jimmy Kimmel's show (at the beginning). I thought some of it was in bad taste and so did his audience. Later on there was a joke in political nature where he showed a clip of the famous Andover Tornado from 1992 with a label on the bottom saying; "Tornado (D)". I thought that was great.

What a sad, sad life. Michael never got a chance to be a kid when he should have. It just screwed up his whole life. I thought basically he was a sweet, kind and sensitive boy. I think I'm in the minority that really didn't believe all of the stories about him.

He was an amazing musician and yes, right up there with Elvis and the Beatles - he probably had more talent than them.

RIP Michael

One of the first memories I have of Michael Jackson's music was when I was very young in Cuba and I saw in the TV his video "Ghost." I was extremely impressed and since then I have been a fan of his music.

RIP Michael Jackson. You will never be forgotten because your music will live forever.

I never was a "fan" of MJ, but some of his music and dance will live on forever to say the least. My biggest memory of him was that when I was at a convention in KC the Jackson 5 were in KC for a concert. As we were moving to a meeting room where we were we were suddenly stopped We watched in awe as MJ and the J5 walked right in front of us to go into the hall for a sound check and rehearsal. That was in 1972.

From TMZ:

Michael Jackson Doctor -- MIA

We've learned law enforcement is looking for a doctor who lived at Michael Jackson's home -- and the doctor is nowhere to be found.

Law enforcement sources tell us a BMW belonging to the doctor was towed from Jackson's home last night.

Cops are looking to interview the doc.

A law enforcement source says the doctor gave Jackson an injection before he died.

Jackson reportedly may have OD'd on Demerol. As we first reported, family members were concerned that Jackson was taking too much morphine.

If it was by a doctor, as alleged, it was criminal malpractice.

I just read something from the Rabbi Schmuley Boteach, Jackson had a presciption drug problem for a while, and any doctor who would support that, rather than direct his patient to a hospital for rehab and treatment, is a criminal.

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County coroner's spokesman Craig Harvey says determining the cause of Michael Jackson's death will require further neuropathology and pulmonary tests that will take four to six weeks. Harvey says there were no signs of foul play or trauma to the body during the three-hour autopsy. He also says Jackson was taking some unspecified prescription medications.

There were several stations in the Philadelphia area playing MJ all day.

I've just downloaded several songs through ITunes and the Thiller video.

I'll put it this way: I was 11 when the Thriller video came out.

I think today was the first time I ever cried over a celebrity's death.

I liked some songs from the "off the Wall" album I heard in clubs about the age I was too young to legally be in clubs, and "Thriller" is a classic, but the increasing weirdness, the dangling babies, ever more bizarre plastic surgery, children wearing masks, him wearing a burkha in the UAE, it over shadowed the music for me.

I had Latino friends even back in college, but was only vaguely aware of Selena Quintanilla, who was murdered by the president of her fan club when Selena confronted her about embezzling money sent for shirt and souvenir orders, and once I heard her music, her young age, her death just as she was preparing to cross into English language pop music, that was a lot sadder.

Selena at the Astrodome- my wife's cousins were at this show.

I don't know how he can make money, or accuse anyone of racism, over this.

Now, Dr. Feelgood may be looking at manslaughter or negligent homicide charges if the stories of Demerol are true. I don't know California criminal law (or any law, really), but I am pretty sure he is in trouble if they find him AND MJ did die of an overdose.

Selena's demise was extremely sad. She was it. The best in many things; as a person, as a singer, etc. My eyes still get watery every March 31 as we remember her death.

Now I have three dates in which to remember a favorite singer that has passed.

March 31, 1995: Selena

July 16, 2003: Celia Cruz

June 25, 2009: Michael Jackson
