The farmers up there had a very stressful night last night. This summer is insane. Alberta and BC had/are having the extremely high temps that we had in 2007 and we, in Saskatchewan, are flirting with f*r*o*s*t, both early and late, this year. I'm betting my son, in Saskatoon, closed his bedroom window last night and put a quilt on his bed.

ROFL!! Down here that is grounds for pulling out the long undies and stoking the fire!! We'd already have a couple of blankets on the bed!!!!

re stoking the fire I know he didn't touch the thermostat......he's a Uni student as are his apartment buddies. Two years ago they didn't turn on the furnace until just before or after Christmas (we had a relatively warm winter that year......they did wear long undies and sweat pants/hoodies inside however). When he was in London, England, he and his fellow Saskatchewan classmate wore shorts (it was a cool spring by London standards and the Brits were dressed like Texans during winter ) so the older Brits had to ask where our kids where from? After hearing Saskatchewan, Canada (they equated here with Siberia ) they understood why son felt it was quite warm there.

Should mention up til Christmas that year the temps hardly fell below zero C or 32F and their apartment windows face South so even when it fell to -5C the warmth from the sun shining in kept the inside warm enough so the pipes didn't freeze (I also warned him he'd better cook a roast or bake a lasagna when those cooler times happened). I'm sure his landlord would have had a prettier bill than what the heat one would have been had they burst the pipes. :S
