scattered to likely chances for storms in august in florida....not sure 'interesting' is the right word.....only a few weather events would be interesting at this time of year.....day after day of clear skies, lows below 70F, and/or an approaching ts/hurricane.

Because of the Tropical Wave today and the possible threat from TD2...I have changed the title.

Came home last night through water everywhere. All roads had at least 2 inches of water. Water was up to my garage last night, completely covering the driveway. I had to get speed up to make it to my driveway, and stalled my car in the process.

I saw many stranded cars last night during rush hour traffic. Too much rain for the ditches and drains to handle. Some areas had feet of water.

4-5 inches of rain in an hour will do that with already soaked ground. Some of the rivers/creeks increased as much as 8 feet just yesterday alone.

Luckily it drained, but was definitely fun....
Today will be a repeat. NWS JAX is expecting to put up small stream and street flood warnings.

Yea, that storm was strong! I wouldnt doubt having 35mph winds here. Very heavy rain. Prior to the rains I could see a weakly formed wall cloud, and heard lots of thunder. Temps dropped by 10 degrees here.

Got home from a meeting down in Riverview about 25 mins ago. Rain gauge showed 1-1/2". Hubby said we got 1/2" in 4 minutes - had 1" by about 11 minutes.

Lots of thunder and lightning in Riverview but no rain when I left.

Sounds like we should get more rain tomorrow too.

There was a funnel cloud over my store in Clearwater. I could see it forming. It never touched down. It was pretty freaky. It was raining sideways!!! A customer a few hours later came by and asked me if i saw the tornado. I said yes but it never touched down
