serious question... I am gazing into the future 11 to 15 days out. On Accuweather they have a sudden 5 degree temperature drop for zip code 33909 -- Cape Coral, Florida. On Weather.com.. they don't go as far out.. but overlap by 2 days.. (as of today) and they show a 3 degree drop in temperatures. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around our temps drop to 85-87 high and upper 60's at night around the first week of October. I really want it to come true though. LOL Does anyone know what the weather models are suggesting for this time frame, or are both sites forecasting the average temps at the time because they can't know for sure what really will be?

91F at Miami International, tying a record set a number of times for September 24, among them 1995, 1993, 1989 and 1957!
Today was the 17th day (out of 24) that temps hit 90F at least at Miami.

Just not far north, just 3 days thus far in the 90s at Ft Lauderdale.
At West Palm Beach, that figure is 6.

Tampa is day 13, Sarasota day 17., Tallahassee day 14, Orlando day 17.

Melbourne just 1 day, Vero Beach 4 days.
No days so far at Pensacola or Apalachicola

AT Key West, today was also day no. 17 (out of 24) in the 90s this month.
Marathon also is at 17 days

Early autumn weather....south florida style....may 'drop' to highs in the mid to upper 80s and lows in the lows 70s for a few days this upcoming week....before warming again by the weekend (humidity returning more than anything)

from nws miami:

FOR TEMPERATURE IMPACTS OF THE FRONT...MAX TEMPS FORECAST TO BE MID
TO UPPER 80S BY WEDNESDAY AND BY FRIDAY SLOWLY START TO REBOUND FOR
THE WEEKEND. MIN TEMPS FORECAST BY TUESDAY NIGHT TO BE UPPER 60S BY
THE LAKE...LOWER 70S EAST AND WEST COAST METRO AREAS AND DECREASING
SLIGHTLY ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND SLOWLY START TO CLIMB BY THE
WEEKEND. BY WEDNESDAY THE HUMIDITY ACROSS THE REGION WILL SLOWLY BEGIN
TO FALL AND START TO RECOVER A BIT BY NEXT WEEKEND.

Still early for low temps falling below 70 deg in miami....not forecast this week....and probably not for a while. Some recent dates of the first overnight reading below 70 deg in Miami:

2008 - October 28 (amazingly hit 57 deg!)
2007 - November 3 (67 deg)
2006 - October 24 (60 deg)
2005 - October 24 (66 deg following wilma)

Seems cool outside. Temps still got to almost 90, but an rH in the 50's and a DP in the 70's makes all the difference!

It is beautiful in Cape Coral. ( over the river from Fort Myers )

it is 77 degrees and partly cloudy. Very comfortable. I got the house opened up and airing out. Really wish it would last longer than 2 days. We are looking forward to a cool wet fall and winter. So tired of sweating.

bad news if you dont like the 90s in Florida:-

PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAMPA BAY AREA - RUSKIN FL
200 PM EDT FRI OCT 2 2009

...SUMMER-LIKE WEATHER EXPECTED TO RETURN...

DURING NEXT WEEK AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL BECOME ESTABLISHED OVER
FLORIDA WHILE SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE RIDGES WESTWARD FROM THE
ATLANTIC ACROSS THE REGION. THIS WILL CAUSE AN INCREASE IN LOW
LEVEL MOISTURE OVER THE AREA WHICH WOULD USUALLY COMBINE WITH
DAYTIME HEATING AND THE SEA BREEZES TO CAUSE SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS
AFTERNOON AND EVENING THUNDERSTORMS. HOWEVER, WITH THE UPPER LEVEL
RIDGE OVER THE REGION THE CONVECTION WILL BE SUPPRESSED SOMEWHAT
ALLOWING TEMPERATURES TO CLIMB TO SUMMER-LIKE LEVELS. THESE RATHER
HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN PLACE FOR MOST OF THE
WEEK WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES CLIMBING INTO THE LOWER 90S AWAY FROM
THE IMMEDIATE COAST...POSSIBLY MID 90S IN A FEW INLAND LOCATIONS.
THESE TEMPERATURES WILL BE ABOUT 3 TO 7 DEGREES ABOVE AVERAGE WHICH
COULD PUT RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES IN JEOPARDY IN A FEW LOCATIONS.

end
