How exciting for North Texas!!! Enjoy it guys.
We're just getting tons of rain, heavy winds and the power keeps flickering. Rain should change to snow showers early Christmas morning though.

Preliminary but the 2.3 inches of snow at DFW today would be about as much as we get a year. Same scenarios for areas north\northwest into Oklahoma.
Edit: 3 inches

As of right now based on what I interpret on the upper flow maps, that system doesn't look to be as potent. I'm questioning if this would be more in line of an ice event vs. snow. Any thoughts?

Re: Texas winter wx thread (2009-2010)
i have heard reports from the last few hours 8 - 13 inches in the wichita falls area... but my final total was 12.80" in the center of the yard here with drifts over 3 1/2 feet.
with this snow pack in the areas that got the heavy snow its gonna be one chilly night looks like temps will drop into the lower
teens with windchill factors at or just below zero in some areas. i have not had time to go over the latest data for next week will
start giving that a better look over the coming days..
everyone have a very merry christmas!

I'm not sure about specifics, but according to a poster on another site who has access to the European weeklies, there is severe cold in the east (centered over mid-Atlantic states) during weeks 1 and 2. According to the poster, the cold shifts back to the lower Plains (Oklahoma/Texas/Nebraska) and then consolidates there. By week 4 there is a "monster" -EPO/+PNA in place.
I would caution against relying heavily on a forecast that is 3-4 weeks away (even if it is the highly-touted European model); the models have enough difficulty in the shorter range. However, it may be showing what the general pattern might be. This might get interesting. Comments anyone?

I've believed that we are stepping down into a colder pattern. Srain has mentioned this for awhile. I could see that trend coming to fruition. As for the shorter term I'm guessing everyone wants to know what the possible storm next Tues-Weds time frame would bring for Texas.

Listening to the police scanner feeds online, man it is a mess out there. Lots of ice related car accidents going on all over. Seems like there's a new one every 5 minutes, and thats just the Frisco feed. Semi just jacknifed on 75, all lanes blocked, cars losing control on tollway, etc.... careful out there!
