Texas winter wx thread (2009-2010)

In your way more educated opinions, when do you think the local DFW guys will start to get on board with this storm? For that matter, the NWS FW?

Dustan, I would guess that Ft Worth office might issue a WWA this afternoon or evening. After reading their previous discussions, I get the sense that they think the temperature profile/moisture availability could be problematic and thus limiting accumulations. I think if the models continue to trend towards a much more significant event tonight, they may or may not jump on board tomorrow morning with a winter storm watch/warning.

EDIT: some ppl may be saying what the heck with the nw tx area... iam putting that in per the 00z nam, signs of a 2nd possible pocket of a snow band trying
to form late tomm in the vernon, sps areas.... but i would expect the very heavy snow to be down near the metroplex region...

Starting to get better, I still like wxman's earlier prediction 3-6 along I-20. Still one more good run to fine tune.

And im very very confident now that the nws has put out 2-3" that means alot beacuse they never are that sure.

While I know the chances of seeing any snow in SE TX are slim to none, was the 12z data at least closer to slim than none, compared to the 0z data?

SLIM for Houston/Beaumont.

At least the Japanese model has some potential...but that is slim hope.

I think from FTW eastward will see the brunt of the system, with DFW area along and just south of I-20 seeing 3 to 5 inches with heavier amounts futher east say from Tyler to Shreveport. Lighter amounts 1 to 2" North of DFW and South of Waxahachie.

lol, my graphic is far from perfect one of the more rushed i have put together in recent memory... just everyone please note this forecast is very much in flux it could change for better or worse at a moments notice so just stay tuned... but attm i see significant amounts of snow impacting areas along i-20 both slightly north, south tomorrow...

Well, a slim chance is better than no chance. NWS has snow in the forecast north of here, in Jasper, but that's as close as it gets. They haven't updated this afternoon yet, though. I'm still crossing my fingers for a surprise and hope my fellow Texans further north get the winter wonderland they're wishing for.

I'm almost afraid to report this because Wxman57 will probably tell me to not gripe any more about getting wintry weather, but during today's Great S2K Blackout, it did sleet in downtown Austin for about 10 minutes before turning into a cold light rain.

my justification for the why my graphic is like such i just dont buy the temps getting down cold enough further
and deeper into eastern, ne tx or even very far south i have SERIOUS doubts attm... thats why iam banking on areas across the metroplex and just slightly north, south of i-20... things could change but thats the way i see it rightnow.

i urge everyone as iam to keep an eye on the main factor in this upcoming event and that is the upper level low b/c a slight track to the north or south could change amts, so just something to remember ..
